Tennis Myth #3: Tennis is an elite sport.

The only equipment you need to play tennis is a racket and a pair tennis shoes.

👟 Running trainers aren’t designed for the lateral movements of tennis and are often built up at the heel so push the weight into the toes, which can be uncomfortable.

We work with ClubRackets.com Sheffield’s Racket Sports shop so you can make an informed choice. The shop in Dyson Place in Sharrow Vale has a great range of shoes to try on and rackets to buy.

Plus with our memberships from just £85 for an adult, or £85 for a family membership of one adult and up to three children under 16, tennis is an accessible sport.

🎾🎾🎾”But what about tennis balls?” You may ask. The club provides the tennis balls for the three social sessions a week. So you can play for up to 6 hours each week* without needing to buy your own balls!

Empty Chairs is a simple idea: we book a small table in a pub and leave a few chairs empty, inviting anyone who wants company to join us. There's no pressure, no agenda, and no expectation to stay longer than you want.

Loneliness affects people of all ages. Empty Chairs exists to create low-pressure spaces where real human connection can happen - even if it's just sitting together for a drink.

Empty Chairs was started by Chicken Rush, where we create social experiences that bring people together and foster community.

It’s the same belief, just simpler: connection doesn’t need a perfect plan - it just needs a place to start.
