We get asked this a lot, why hedgehogs?👀

Because they’re a gateway species. As one of the UK’s best loved animals, they’re often what first gets people caring about wildlife and taking action.

The impact also goes far beyond hedgehogs. When you make spaces safer for them, you’re also supporting frogs, toads, beetles, worms, birds and pollinators that share the same environments.

They’re also an indicator species, so if hedgehogs are struggling, it’s a clear sign something is going wrong in the wider ecosystem.

So this isn’t just about one animal. It’s about starting with hedgehogs because it creates wider benefits for biodiversity and helps protect whole ecosystems.
