Today is Young Carers Action Day - a day for raising awareness and support of young carers.

We are really pleased to have worked with Sheffield Young Carers and their Action Group of young people - they explored young carers and cared-for parents' experiences in health & care settings, and how young carers and their families could be identified and supported at an earlier stage.

Read the report of their key findings, and the amazing resources they developed to help build confidence in identifying and supporting young carers: https://www.healthwatchsheffield.co.uk/report/2026-03-11/speak-sheffield-young-carers

If you want to improve your own understanding of the issues facing young carers and how you could support them, check out Sheffield Young Carers free e-learning module for professionals: https://www.sheffieldyoungcarers.org.uk/training-for-professionals

The Patients Association is currently running their Patient experience survey 2026. They want to hear about your experience with NHS services over the last six months which can include what's working and what's not working so well.

The Patients Association work directly with patients to inform the recommendations they make as an organisation that influence health and care policy, hold decision-makers to account, and improve how services partner with patients. Responses to the survey will be used in a report to support their campaigning and advocacy work.

The survey can be accessed by following this link: https://www.patients-association.org.uk/share-your-experience-in-our-patient-experience-survey

We have been at the Pat MidgIy Community Hub this morning chatting with local residents about , the support options available, and how small can make a big difference 💬

Events like this really highlight how important community-based support and accessible information are for everyone and we have enjoyed taking part and hearing what people have to say about their experiences.

A huge thank you to Healthwatch Sheffield Sheffield for organising. The work they do to make sure people’s voices help shape health and social care services is so valuable to our community

We had a busy January!

Our engagement team spoke with lots of people about their experiences, including difficulties accessing appointments & online systems, and long waits for mental health assessments.
We also heard that local groups can be a lifeline for people to socialise and reduce isolation.
