End of an era…
As of Thursday 19th March, Seven Hills WI has been suspended.

The officers and committee chose to step down due to a new rule that would no longer allow Trans Women to be members of the WI.

No members came forward to fulfil the officer positions so SHWI hosted a Special Meeting to vote on the Suspension, it was a 90% majority.

If you wish to be part of the WI, please contact
South Yorkshire Federation for the local groups that are still active in Sheffield.

16 years of activities and memories but most of all the relationships, will be cherished.

Following the recent national WI ruling on membership eligibility (effective April 2026), we need to share some difficult news about our group's future.

Our current officers have decided not to renew their membership with the WI, and at present, no one has come forward to fill these essential committee roles.

Without officers in place or a committee, Seven Hills WI will be suspended from April 2026.

If you're interested in helping keep our group running or have questions about what's involved, please get in touch urgently. We'd love to hear from anyone willing to step forward.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our Seven Hills community. Whatever happens next, the friendships and memories we've created together will always matter, those that are moving away from the WI, don’t wish to lose the social aspect of a group, so will be looking at alternative options.

Tonight we had the lovely Helen Mort chatting about the incredible human that is Ethel Haythornthwaite.

Ethel helped to save some of the incredible green areas on Sheffields edge and is an inspiring woman.

Helen has written about Ethel and I can’t wait to read the poem that’s been included that Ethel wrote!

Proceeds of the book go to the CPRE charity that Ethel helped to form.
