Knights in Battle

Knights in battle is a friendly Sheffield based re-enactment society which has been going for over 30 years. We are family friendly and have members ranging in age from under 5 to 60+. Although the group is based primarily in Sheffield we have members from other parts of the country as well. We practice once a week in Sheffield and have many experienced members that can help you learn the safe use of medieval weaponry.

Knights in battle re-enact two periods. The late fifteenth century (Wars of the roses), where we portray the household of Lord Sir John Howard (Duke of Norfolk), a staunch loyalist to the Yorkist cause. This can take us all over the country to attend battles such as Tewkesbury and Bosworth as well as many smaller events. Knights in battle also portray knights of the early thirteenth century, mainly putting on tourneys as part of public entertainment, but this also allows us to take part in some large battles.

It is not all about fighting though! There are opportunities for members to learn various crafts that they are interested in. We have cooks, musicians and members specialising in sewing and leather craft.

As well as attending events as re-enactors knights in battle also encourages the social aspect of the hobby with many close friendships. Re-enactment is a very social hobby not only within groups but between groups.
