Thorpe Hesley Women's Institute Visitors and new members are always made very welcome.

The speaker for our June WI meeting was Ken Brookes from the Maurice Dobson Museum, Darfield in Barnsley. He told us all about the history of the museum, the events it holds and what we could see if we visited. The whole story was told with great enthusiasm and humour and lots of anecdotes. Ken is a very gifted speaker.

Ladies of the Rockley group of WIs spent a very pleasant and informative day together to watch the NFWI Annual meeting on Zoom.
We had very inspiring speakers:-
Michele Dougherty, the astronomer Royal.
Ann Boden, the founder of the Starling bank
And
 Mary Lewis -  chair of the Jane Goodall (research into the social and family life of chimpanzees) Institute.
Sharon served us with a wonderful lunch of Pie ‘n’ Peas and amazing cake. Anne devised various quizzes to fill in gaps in the meeting.
Thanks to Lynn Bell for organising the whole event at the superb venue of High Green Scout Hall.

A big THANK YOU to everybody who was involved in our coffee morning, in aid of Rotherham Hospice on Saturday. It was put on by members of the Thorpe Hesley Women’s Institute and of Holy Trinity Church. Thank you to the bakers of an amazing assortment cakes. Thank you to all the people who made the tea and coffee, sold raffle tickets, had a stall. And those who set up and cleared up. A special mention to Ann Marson who sold cakes left over on Sunday after the morning service at Holy Trinity which added generously to our total raised. And of course to everybody who attended and donated so generously ..... A great community event. The amazing £800 that we raised has now been taken to Rotherham hospice.

Thanks to all who supported our fundraising Coffee Morning yesterday with Holy Trinity Church - Thorpe Hesley & Scholes whether by baking, serving, washing up or simply eating and drinking!! A special thanks to Thorpe Hesley Brass Band for their wonderful musical entertainment which was enjoyed by all. We will let you know how much was raised as soon as we have a total. 🌻🍰🫖☕🌻

Former member Jayne enjoyed a lovely day in the sun at Elsecar Park today and sends her regards to all. The Rockley Group Bench came in handy for a rest and she noticed how healthy the Queen's Diamond Jubilee WI Commemorative Trees are looking. Here's hoping everyone has enjoyed this wonderful weather recently ..... Looking forward to seeing everyone at next week's June meeting. Visitors welcome. 🌻🌞🌻
