Good luck to our water polo players competing this weekend for the North East Talent Centre in the Swim England U14 & U16 Talent Games. These games aren't about the scores, it's about showing how much you've improved technically and tactically as individuals and as a team. Good luck and have fun!! 🤽‍♂️🤽‍♀️🤽‍♂️🤽‍♀️

Last night was our parents and players pre Malta trip meeting. All the players received their trip kit. A massive thank you to Rapid Response Telecoms Ltd. for providing the trip hoodies as sponsors and to Delfina UK for sorting our trip kit and making sure our staff look good to match!!

Not long to go now until another brilliant trip with SPR Travel Malta at Sirens ASC - Waterpolo club - see you in July!!

It’s Volunteer Week, so let’s talk about the people who never make the teamsheet.

First whistle goes and we’re racing for the ball. But someone pumped the balls, set up the table and sorted the kit long before that. Someone drove the minibus on the long away day. Someone’s spent all week on the phone chasing fixtures and pool time, so the rest of us can just turn up and play.

That’s our volunteers, the coaches, team managers, referees, table officials and committee who keep City of Sheffield Water Polo Club in the water.

We don’t say it enough, so here it is: thank you. ❤️🖤🤍

Not one session, not one match, not one season happens without you.

And if any of this made you think “I could do that” honestly, you probably could. We’re always after more people, whether that’s coaching, managing a team, learning the table or just helping out poolside.

Come say hello 👋

The U15s had their second conference league day in Northampton.

Game 1 — Sheffield vs Croydon

First up was a strong, well-drilled and physical Croydon side who top the league. Despite the loss, the Sheffield team performed admirably, showing great togetherness and work rate, and scoring some cracking goals. It wasn’t enough to win in the end, but a positive performance going into the second game of the day against Radcliffe.

Game 2 — Sheffield vs Radcliffe

Against Radcliffe, Sheffield carried on the good form from the first game and were able to showcase their skills. After a season and a half in the league, they picked up their first ever win! A big moment, and one that shows the future is bright at Sheffield. Looking forward to the final day and hopefully adding to that winning feeling.

Well done team🫶

U14’s Northern League report❗️

Last weekend, a very young team competed in the U14 NL with only two players of the correct age. It was always going to be tough, as other teams had full squads of 2012s. The aim of the day was about experience and learning.

The team dug deep and played to the final whistle in every game. Their spirit and teamwork were outstanding, other teams even commented on how much fun the team had. They learnt a lot over the course of the day, with defence getting stronger and stronger. Attack will be the main focus over the next few months.

A brilliant afternoon, lots learnt and plenty of laughs.

MVP - Rory for his incredible saves in goal.

Also special mention to Issac for his first Junior games!

Well done team🫶

This week is a reminder that what happens off the pool deck matters just as much as what happens in the water.

Check in. Speak up. Look out for each other.
