Established on a heritage site dating back to the 1870s, Burton Street Foundation is at the heart of disability and community services in Sheffield.

We offer function rooms and business spaces for hire, as well as a vibrant café open to the public. The Burton Street Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation serving the community. Our home is a complex of Victorian school buildings in the Hillsborough district of Sheffield. Over 1500 people use Burton Street every week! We specialise in supporting adults and older children with learning and physical disability but we offer a very wide range of other activities for the public.

🗣️ What do you think the future of adult social care should look like?

The Independent Commission on Adult Social Care has launched 'The Big Conversation on Care', giving everyone across Sheffield a chance to shape the future of adult social care.

For Burton Street families, guardians and carers, this is a chance to share your real experience of the system — what works, what needs to change and what good support should look like.

The conversation centres on one big question:

“When we are old or disabled, or have a serious illness, who should support us and how?”

You can submit your own response, or read what others have said and vote whether you agree 💬

The views gathered will help inform the Commission’s recommendations for the future of adult social care in England.

The Tell Us A Story session brought an autumn-themed interactive story to life, exploring different sensory experiences.

There was lots of fun along the way... and, of course, plenty of throwing leaves in each other’s faces! 😂🍂

🎪 Circus skills at Burton Street!

Nikki from Greentop Circus Centre dropped in to introduce our clients to the world of circus, sharing some of her awesome skills as a high-octane aerialist 🤸‍♀️🔥

There was lots to have a go at, with our clients trying out new skills, getting involved and having an amazing time ✨

Nikki is passionate about bringing circus to the community and giving people the chance to get involved and discover what they can do.

A brilliant session!🎪✨

Bond. James Bond... 🕵️

The Discovery Channels session had a James Bond Day, where the group learnt all about the films, the characters and, of course, the music.

The secret agents-in-training also got creative, making their own original artwork inspired by the world of 007 🎨

A great visit from Sheffield City Council! 🚍

Our ‘Discovery Channels’ session welcomed Karen from the Department of Road Safety and Evan from Transport Planning. Our Trustee Daniel was also in attendance.

It was a packed house, with excellent discussion around wheelchair access, pavement issues, injury prevention, public transport and the road safety concerns that affect our clients, who provided invaluable insight 💬

There were lots of ideas about how the Council can help, from safer crossings to improvements to local streets 👏

A really useful conversation, and hopefully the start of something much bigger... 🚦
