In this Sunday's reading from Matthew's gospel, Jesus has another encounter with the Pharisees. They were important religious leaders who placed great emphasis on keeping, and encouraging the people to keep, a huge number of religious laws.

Unfortunately, sometimes outward observance of these laws became more important than what lay at their heart. Jesus cuts through the distractions and distils the essence of what God requires of us into a profound eight-word tagline. Come along on Sunday to the 10.30am Eucharist and find out what that is, and how it challenges us on our own journeys of faith.

Sheffield Cathedral’s Dog Day was a blast! 🎉🐶

We welcomed over 100 four-legged friends through our doors, and we were so excited to meet them all.

We are recruiting basses to sing in the Cathedral Choir!🎵

Sheffield Cathedral Choir is one of the leading mixed-voice choirs in South Yorkshire and the only professional ensemble of its kind in the region.

The Choir is regularly invited to perform at significant city events, with recent appearances at Cutlers’ Hall and Sheffield Town Hall. Broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and ITV, alongside a strong catalogue of recordings, have helped grow the choir’s national profile.

We are now inviting basses to join the Choir!🎶

This Sunday, we remember and give thanks to the life and ministry of St Luke, who was one of Jesus twelve disciples.

Luke was a Greek physician, and it was Luke who was the author of both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, which means that he was able to see and reflect first hand on the life and ministry of Jesus, the two books make up a large part of the New Testerment. Over the centuries, St Luke has become the patron saint of physicians and surgeons.

On the feast of St Luke’s, it’s tradition to focus on the Church’s ministry of healing and wholeness, thus on Sunday we will reflect on Luke’s observations as seen in Luke 10:1-9, for in verse 9 we read words of Jesus, “ Heal the sick who are there and tell them, the kingdom of God has come near to you.” In response to what we will hear from the Gods word, we will have the opportunity to receive anointing and the laying on of hands during the Eucharist.
