RSPCA Sheffield Shelter

RSPCA Sheffield Shelter Providing shelter, love and care to cats and dogs everyday. Please see email below for queries.

The RSPCA Sheffield Branch is a separately registered charity to the National RSPCA which is based in Horsham, Sussex. Although we receive some support from the National RSPCA we have to generate all our own running costs ourselves, through local fundraising in the Sheffield area. We do not receive any funding from the government or local authority. The Sheffield branch of the RSPCA is run by volu

nteer trustees and costs over £2000 per day to run. This money has to be raised in the Sheffield area only, by staff and volunteers through fundraising, donations and legacies. We aim to rehome over 1000 animals per year from our shelter and support many more, all of which have come to us via rescue from cruelty or neglect, or that their owners are no longer able to care for them. Many other animals are also offered an emergency short stay until they can go somewhere that better suits their needs. Our job is to offer love, kindness and care, and to rehabilitate and rehome these lovely animals and to raise the funds to do so. The RSPCA Sheffield Branch, based in Attercliffe is made up of:

-The Sheffield Animal Centre which rehomes unwanted, neglected and abandoned cats and dogs. We neuter, vaccinate and microchip every dog and cat which comes to the Centre.

- Our Charity shops, situated around Sheffield are a vital source of regular income for the centre. We have great shops in Broomhill, Chapeltown, Woodseats and a brilliant eBay shop which all sell second-hand and vintage goods. We never put an animal to sleep unless advised to do so by a vet, to prevent further suffering or for severe aggression to people.

✨ Meet Jellybean (JB to his friends) 💛 ✨

This very handsome boy has quite the story… but now he’s ready for his happy ending.

Jellybean came into our care as part of a cruelty investigation. He’d clearly been through so much, and when he first arrived he was overwhelmed, unsure, and didn’t quite know who to trust. Our hearts broke for him 💔.

Some relationships didn’t quite work out at first, so we took a step back, gave him space, and built him a small circle of safe, patient people who asked nothing of him except that he could just be 🥺 And oh, how he’s blossomed since then 🌸

In just a few weeks, Jelly has transformed into the sweetest, most affectionate little soul. With those he trusts, he’s now a full-on cuddle bug... climbing onto laps, giving gentle head bumps, chatting away, enjoying grooming time, and soaking up every bit of love he can 💕

His confidence is growing every day. He’s become a curious boy, watching the world go by, being wonderfully nosey at the other cats, and even enjoying little adventures stretching his legs along the corridors. But Jelly will need a special kind of home, one that understands that love like his takes time. When he first arrives, he may feel nervous again, and that’s okay. What he needs is someone patient, kind, and willing to build that trust with him slowly. Because once you have his heart… he will love you with everything he has 🥹💖

🏡 His ideal home:
• A calm, understanding environment
• Children of secondary school age or older, who can respect his space
• May be able to live with another calm, friendly cat (with careful introductions)
• No dogs 🚫🐶
• Access to the outdoors for exploring 🌿
• A family who can be around a good part of the day... he loves company

Jelly may always be a sensitive soul, but with the right person, he will be the most loving, loyal, and cuddly companion you could ever wish for 🤞🏡

✨ Could you be the one to give this beautiful boy the second chance he truly deserves? ✨

Well guys... we have someone to introduce you to that will no doubt lift all of your Monday blues.... say hello to ah Ian! 🥹... a little terrier with a big future ahead of him! 🐾✨

Ian, our adorably crackers 10‑month‑old Jack Russell who is ready to start his fresh chapter in life 💛 💙 Ian came into our care through no fault of his own, he and a fair few other dogs simply couldn’t stay where they were 🫶 Now, he’s looking for a foster-to-adopt home where he can finally learn what it means to feel safe, supported, and loved.

We adore this little pup and so we could ramble on and on about how amazing he is and what he needs 😅 So to keep us on track we have broken it all down for you all instead 🤞

🐶 About Ian 🐶
Ian is still very much a baby, and like many young dogs who haven’t had much exposure to the world, everything can feel a little overwhelming. The sights, sounds, and smells of everyday life can be a lot for him right now, but underneath that uncertainty is a bright, curious little soul just waiting to blossom 🥹🌱

He will need:
✅ A patient and understanding family
✅ Someone terrier-savvy who understands his quirks
✅ A calm, steady home where he can go at his own pace
And most importantly…
🐕 A confident, stable resident dog to show him the ropes!
Ian would thrive with a doggy friend who is:
• well-balanced and has confidence to show him how lovely the world can be!
• playful enough to keep up with him
• Able to gently guide him when he gets a bit over-the-top (as cheeky terriers do!)

🏡 The Home Ian Needs
• A secure garden is an absolute must 🌿 (with fencing he cannot get under or over...he’s a terrier after all!)
• A household committed to taking things slow and building trust
• People who understand that Ian is a “slow burner”
He’s not going to be the dog sitting politely beside you at a busy café anytime soon and that’s okay 🫶 Right now, Ian needs a home where he can just learn how to be a dog. A care free, playful young dog 💛💙

🐾 Fun Jack Russell Facts!
Because understanding Ian means understanding his breed:
✨ Jack Russells are incredibly intelligent and love to learn
✨ They were bred for hunting so they are naturally curious, energetic, and determined
✨ They’re known for their big personalities in small bodies
✨ They thrive with routine, structure, and mental stimulation
✨ Loyal to the core, once bonded they are full of love and character... In the right hands, Jack Russells like Ian grow into fun, devoted, and endlessly entertaining companions 💛💙

Ian is just 10 months old. His life is only just beginning, and it is so important that we find him the right home now 🤞One that will guide him, support him, and help him truly live life, not just exist. He may not be what society would class as an easy dog right now… But we know that in the right home, with the right guidance, Ian is going to be absolutely amazing. 🌟

Could you be Ian’s fresh start? 🤞🏡

If you can offer patience, understanding, and a loving home (with a canine role model!), Ian will reward you in ways you can’t even imagine.

Let’s give this little lad the life and home he deserves 💛💙

On this quiet Friday evening, while the world is caught up in the excitement of the World Cup ⚽️🦶, we’re taking a moment to think about our beautiful Mira 🫶 and we realised you are all well over due a little update!

For those who don’t know her, Mira is a stunning German Shepherd with the softest brown eyes 😍 Her story began with heartbreak. She came to stay with us and sadly lost her person... the one she loved and trusted leaving her world suddenly uncertain and alone 💔

We welcomed her into our family, determined she’d never feel alone again. But not long after, she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia 😔 a condition affecting her mobility and comfort. With the right care though, we and her vets were confident she could still have a happy, fulfilling life 💙💛

So we decided to start her rescue journey officially and reached out for a recovery foster home… and the love and support we received on that post and her plea was incredible 🥹

Now, the best part… Mira is thriving with Kim and her family in foster 🫶 She’s rediscovering the world one gentle step at a time! Making friends, enjoying her garden (and paddling pool!), and getting the care she needs, including hydrotherapy with the amazing team at AquaPaws in Sheffield 💙💛

Watching her blossom again has been truly special. From heartbreak to happiness, Mira’s journey is what rescue is all about 🫶💔

Just look at her… isn’t she perfect? 😍
Check the comments for a video of her living her best life!

She's now one step closer to finding her forever humans 💙💛

Happy Friday 💙💛
