Sheffield Folk Guide is run by Kathy Barnes (Billy Cat) to share information about folk music and dance events happening in Sheffield. Music and Dance events that are predominantly traditional or folk inspired will be included. This is a Sheffield based guide but if I am sent information about events within 30 min drive from Sheffield that I think will be of interest I will include them.

There are 2 Whit sings this weekend: Dungworth on Sunday and Grenoside on Monday. I'm sure at both we will be remembering Ian Russell who passed away on Saturday. His lifetime work collecting and teaching the Sheffield carols was so phenomenally important.

It's back - the Gothic Masquerade Ceilidh returns this October 25th! Now in it's fifth incarnation, we're returning once again to the fantastic Crookes Social Club with calling from the wonderful Daisy Black.

I'm delighted to announce Ballads and Songs: Sam Carter sings Nic Jones. This is a one-tour-only celebration of Nic's wonderful repertoire, so I hope you'll get your t!ckets and join me at a venue or festival near you!

And that's not all. Sam Carter Sings Nic Jones: Live at Celtic Connections is out on June 26th. The album is available to pre-order now on CD and download exclusively via Bandcamp, link in comments.

Master Kilby is out today as a single across streaming services, and is also included as an instant download with all Bandcamp pre-orders.

I'm hugely grateful to the Jones family for giving this project their blessing, especially to Nic’s daughter Helen for being my point of contact while I pulled this all together.

I hope you’ll enjoy this album and the gigs as much as I’ve enjoyed listening to and learning Nic’s music over the years. X
