We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Stocksbridge, Richard Crowther, to our Foodbank, Community Shop and Coffee Shop this week. Richard and his team are true supporters of what we are doing in the community and we really appreciate the fact that he has devoted some of his precious time to visit us and get a better understanding of the way we work.

In these days of rising food costs we do appreciate how difficult things are for a lot of people and we really do appreciate that many of you still continue to donate to our Food Bank. We want to say a sincere Thank You as we really would not be able to offer the service without your generosity. If you are in a position to continue to donate in the coming weeks, the items we are low on are:-

Just a reminder that our Coffee Shop is open today from 8.45 until 1200

The sun will be shining so pop in for breakfast or why not try one of our Specials including warm pancakes with vanilla ice cream or Affogato (vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso or hot chocolate poured over).

Once again we want to say ‘Thank You’ for all of your generous donations to the Foodbank. Like we have said many times before, we really could not offer our service without your support.

If you are in a position to help again this week then the items we are really short of are the following tinned items:

Carrots, Fruit, Corned Beef and Ham and also little jars of Meat Paste

Morning from Team Cedar Road Coffee Shop!
We are open this morning - (Thursday from 0845 until 1200) offering a selection of hot and cold drinks, sweet treats and breakfast items.

As we have now been successfully open for over a couple months, we have decided to amend our Tuesday and Thursday opening and closing times as of week commencing 1st June to 0930 until 1230!

Another BIG THANK-YOU to everyone who has donated food, time or money to support the Food Bank this week. We appreciate every single item you donate to us. If you're able to support us again next week, the general items we are running low on are:

A recipe from one of our volunteers and members. A good and healthy way to use some of this week’s items. They write:

“This is a great way to use up leftover rice and makes a cheap. very filling and very tasty high fibre and high protein meal.”

Spiced lentil rice:

Finely slice an onion and gently caramelise in a frying pan with a drizzle of honey

Add spices- dried or freshly grated garlic, cumin, turmeric, coriander, paprika, cinnamon and salt

Rinse (precooked) lentils and stir into the pan

Stir in leftover rice

Add a squeeze of lemon and a big handful of chopped parsley and gently heat through
