🚨HAVE YOUR SAY 🚨

And watch til end for a Whalley tantrum! 😂

Don’t forget to fill out the government consultation to ban fox hunting for good!!

The loopholes in the law mean hunts are able to carry out horrific acts of cruelty as part of their “trail hunting” activities.

It’s time to end ALL HUNTING once and for all! Do your bit to make it happen ✍️

Hunts love their hounds, don't they?

🚨GROVE HUNTSMAN & TERRIERMAN
CAUGHT IN THE ACT🚨

Here is the proof you've been waiting for that the Grove & Rufford are breaking the law. After countless pieces of evidence collated by sabs that these dirty tactics were being deployed, they've now been caught on camera.

This is all the more reason for a full ban on trail hunting. With only a week to go until the government consultation closes - make sure you've made your opinion heard and show support a final end to this outdated and cruel activity.

Foxes, badgers and terriers are subjected to significant harm alongside many other wildlife species, at the hands of these abusers, but we hope that now they are finally about to be brought to justice!

FURTHER BADGER SETT BLOCKING BY THE GROVE AND RUFFORD EXPOSED

Hot on the heels of revealing that the Huntsman of the Grove and Rufford, Jacob Whalley, and terrierman Ste Reynolds have been charged with offences under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, more sett blocking footage involving the pair has been released.

They are once again captured on covert footage, this time the day before a cubbing meet at an active badger sett in woodland near Retford. Reynolds is seen filling in sett holes while Whalley is seen carrying nets which are typically used to capture any foxes that are bolted by a terrier. The following day Whalley is seen back at the sett dressed for hunting with a horn and pack of hounds.

This is further proof (if you needed it!) that trail hunting exists only on paper and that the Grove and Rufford aren't trail hunting.

We have reported other instances of blocked setts we have found while sabbing them this season, with police attending and locating landowners to speak to about their responsibilities and complicity when allowing hunts access to land. We heard that the police caused quite the stir knocking on doors in Laxton in search of the landowner after we reported a blocked sett we found during a meet there at the end of January. The hunt took the hounds directly to this sett straight from the meet.

Huntsman Whalley, along with terrierman Reynolds, was in court less than two weeks ago for a plea hearing about the blocked sett in woodland near Newark. They both pleaded not guilty and the trial is due to take place in November. This was Whalley's second time in court in the last 12 months after he pleaded guilty to a Hunting Act offence in July 2025 for his actions during his time as whipper in at the Fitzwilliam Hunt.

With two weeks to go before the consultation into strengthening the Hunting Act ends, the HSA has obtained new footage which perfectly illustrates the need for a stronger deterrent to hunting wild mammals with dogs. Relentless Cruelty Covert cameras captured Grove & Rufford huntsman, Jacob Whalley,...

It hasn't been a great week for the Grove and Rufford. More to follow!

Grove and Rufford huntsman Jacob Whalley and terrierman Ste Reynolds have been charged with four counts of interfering with a badger sett. The sett, which was located in a woodland near Newark had seven of the eight entrances blocked. Both men have entered not guilty pleas and the trial is due to take place in November 2026.

Yet again this is further evidence that 'trail hunting' does not exist. Badger setts are blocked by hunts to prevent foxes from seeking refuge underground when being chased by hounds.

We need a full ban with no loopholes and no exemptions, to protect our wildlife. The consultation into banning 'trail hunting' is open until the 18th of June so please make sure you have completed and shared with family and friends https://www.huntsabs.org.uk/ha-campaign/have-your-say/

GROVE AND RUFFORD HUNTSMAN CHARGED OVER BADGER SETT BLOCKING

Last week, Grove and Rufford huntsman Jacob Whalley and terrierman Ste Reynolds entered not guilty pleas, after being charged with tampering with an active badger sett in November last year.

This was one of many incidents of badger sett interference discovered around Grove and Rufford hunt meets last season.

The incident was covered by the Newark Advertiser and the trial is set for November.

Last weekend (Sunday 24th May) a small but dedicated number of us held a demo outside Lower Hexgreave Farm, Kirklington, the location of the Grove and Rufford's second fundraising amble of the summer. We made sure that those attending (as well as people driving past on the busy A617) were aware that this event and those like it are fundraisers for illegal fox hunting.

Lower Hexgreave Farm is home to Strawson Ltd, suppliers of carrots, parsnips and potatoes to major supermarkets such as . Jane Strawson, director of the company, used to be a master at the Grove and Rufford meaning she dedicated time and energy into keeping the hunt out killing foxes. Now, the Strawson's are helping to financially support the hunt by hosting the Grove's fundraiser.
