Here at Light, we know that the thought of coming to our peer support groups can be daunting.

All our peer support groups offer a safe, non -judgmental relaxing space to share should you wish, there is no pressure to open up or share your experiences.

We know that sometimes getting out and being around other adults / parents is enough for some to feel less alone.

Our groups are running this week across Sheffield, Rotherham & Doncaster, all we ask is that you are registered before attending.

Today is National Sunscreen Day 😎

Babies under 6 months cannot wear sunscreen. Protect them by putting on lightweight clothing that covers their skin, put on a hat, and keep them in the shade. They should be kept entirely out of direct sunlight.

Babies over 6 months can wear sunscreen and the NHS recommends an SPF of at least 30. Whichever brand you use, it's best to make sure that it protects from both UVA and UVB rays.
Use plenty of it and re-apply every 1-2 hours and after swimming. This goes for you, too!

Today we're looking at voices of the future. At Light we’re committed to ensuring our services reflect the changing world and the diverse voices within it.

That’s why we continue to develop inclusive support with new groups this year directly supporting LGBTQIA+ parents, neurodivergent parents and young parents.

We’re also re‑imagining how support is delivered, as we know just sitting to talk doesn’t work for everyone. Alongside our traditional peer support, we’re creating more creative options such as our wellbeing walks and crafts groups. Creating spaces to talk (or not talk), to move, to create, and feel less alone in ways that work for everyone.

The future of maternal mental health is inclusive, creative, and shaped by lived experience. At Light, we’re proud to be listening, learning and growing alongside the families we support.

Light are proud to be able to work alongside both the Sheffield and Rotherham and Doncaster Perinatal Mental Health Teams. These relationships allow all services to make sure that each parent is receiving the best and most appropriate support, at the right time.

The Sheffield Perinatal Mental Health Team are showing their support for Light by running the Sheffield Round Run to raise awareness and funds, on Sunday 28th June.

Perinatal Team Manager, Bex, has this to say about the event ; "We at Sheffield Perinatal Team are super excited (and nervous) to be taking part in the Round Sheffield Run with our colleagues at Light. When deciding to take on this well-known (and mostly loved local run), I couldn't think of anything better than inviting our colleagues at Light to join the adventure, raise money and awareness around perinatal mental health. Light, you are amazing and we really value your support to all those mums and dads within the Perinatal period. Thank you! "
