We can't believe it but it's already time to release our March events calendar!
First off this Saturday from 12-2pm we'll be doing a little trip over to the hives to check how the bees are doing and give them some extra help to get through the rest of the winter. This will be followed up by a much needed sort of the surrounding area and shed. The first hour if this requires sign up and we have already filled the numbers for this, so if you're not a member make sure to grab a membership on the SU website so you get our emails about hive checks ASAP.
Next Monday we have a super exciting event for you guys! From 6pm, in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium, a Master Beekeeper from SBKA is coming in to give a FREE talk on an introduction to beekeeping and bee conservation! This is a great opportunity to get an insight into whats its like to be a beekeeper and how you can help out our planets bees. No need to sign up - just turn up on the day.
On Friday 14th we will be hosting a social at the Treehouse board game cafe! Make sure to check out our previous insta post for more info, and sign up through the link in bio if you want to come along!
The following Saturday we are hoping join PetSoc on a trip to Heeley city farm. Just 15 minutes away from the city centre, Heeley farm is a free admission urban farm , and makes for a great afternoon out! More details to be released soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
On Wednesday the 25th we are planning to have a frame making session to give our smallest colony a home of their own! This is one of more popular events where you get to help build an actual beehive with all the brood and super frames for inside the hive which home all the honey and baby bees!
The frame making session will be a great time to ask the committee everything they love about the society, because that Friday we will be opening up our AGM application form. An annual general meeting (AGM) is held by all societies to recruit the next years committee, and this year ours will be on the 4th April
Saturday 19th we are planning to head over to Holly Hagg to volunteer for the afternoon, a community farm with Alpaca Trekking! More info to come!
