Saturday 8th Aug, Everyone Active Sports Day, 2.00 - 4.00pm, Tug of war, Cricket, giant Connect 4, plus more.
(See posters on this site for more info.)
NOTE: The Everyone Active Saturday Sports Day event could provide an opportunity to see how ‘ParkPlay’ might work….
PARKPLAY:
In a post on this site a year ago The Friends announced the possible launch in the park of a free weekly play session called ‘ParkPlay’. The notice invited local volunteers to become play leaders - a necessary requirement. Unfortunately, no potential play leaders came forward.
However, if there is renewed interest and you want to know more, go to: www.park-play.com for more information and to see a short film explaining the benefits.
ParkPlay is a scheme that is working well in other parts of the country, but there’s no current version in Sheffield. It would be great to see a launch in Hollinsend Park.
The scheme needs 3 or 4 leaders - could you be one of them?
(If you have any ParkPlay queries specific to Hollinsend Park, you can also use ‘Messenger’ here.)
We’ll review next steps, if there’s still no interest.
NEW FOOTPATH:
A new footpath linking the Hollinsend Road entrance with the park pavilion/bowling green area should be completed during the first half of next year.
The design has been developed to include drainage solutions, while a tarmac surface will allow all year round use for everyone, providing direct access and a completed circuit within the park.
ONGOING:
Free tennis with coach: Saturday morning from 10.00am and Wednesday morning (Adults only), 10.00 - 11.0am.
Pickball: Wednesday evening, 5.00 - 7.00pm (see more details in other posts on this site.)
Also ongoing: The park’s large double trunked Ash tree (see photo), looking well, despite supposedly suffering from Ash Dieback disease.
Have a good summer!
