Now our shop security deposits have been returned and all monies owed to us have been repaid, we're just waiting for the accountant to finalise our accounts then we can begin to officially wind down the charity.
Last year we donated;
£5,000 to the Burton St. Foundation,
£5,000 to Sheffield Mencap,
£150 to Target Ovarian Cancer.
Once the accounts have been completed we will be donating all remaining funds in our account to the Sheffield Carers, we've requested the money be used for their "Time for me Grant", which enables unpaid carers to take a break from their caring role and responsibilities.
Thanks once again to all our customers who have supported us, its lovely to know so many people have benefited from your generosity.

So this week I've had an email from Burton Street Foundation in Hillsborough to say that the £5,000 donation we gave them last year has gone towards refurbishment of their cookery room which is in use on a daily basis, has space for wheelchair users and height ajustable worktops and kitchen equipment. The lights and blinds can be adjusted for people with sensory needs and there's sound insulation for people who are sensitive to noise.
We're very proud to have been able to contribute to the new kitchen which has been made possible because of all our customers who supported us over the 5 years we were open.
Thank you so much

Do nip down and check out this lovely new business that has opened today in our old shop on Holme Lane. Beautiful plants, gifts, soap, incense, and a really friendly, helpful owner. I took a few photos while I was there and will put a link to their Facebook in the comments.

About Us

People with disabilities are often treated less favourably by society and it’s institutions, many employers tend to see the disability rather than the person and are less inclined to offer employment. 65% of people with disabilities would like to be in paid employment but only 6% actually are which means the majority have an unfulfilled ambition. Here at Not Just a Shop we provide training and retail work experience for young adults with learning difficulties. Our students are trained then supported to carry out a range of tasks necessary to run an effective retail outlet. They learn how to liaise with customers and suppliers, take delivery of stock, window display, stock rotation, serve customers, use tills and give correct change. The skills and work experience resulting from placements will put the young adults in a much stronger position to seek formal employment that is creative and rewarding.
