Stocksbridge and District Women's Institute A Women's Institute group based in Stocksbridge for women in the wider community. It's not all Jam and Jerusalem - we do more than knit and bake cakes!

The Women’s Institute organisation is based on the ideals of fellowship, truth, tolerance and justice. All women who are interested in issues associated with rural life, including arts, crafts and sciences, may join, no matter what their views on religion or politics may be. The organisation is non-sectarian and non-party political. This does not prevent Women’s Institutes from concerning themselv

es with matters of political and religious significance, provided the views and rights of minorities are respected and provided the organisation is never used for party-political or sectarian purposes. Women’s Institutes are charitable and everything they do must be consistent with that special legal status.

We had an absolute blast at last nights meeting we had a visit from owlman of stocksbridge and some of his parliament of owls
All i can say is that this must have been one of our best meetings we have had and we have had a few
It was great to hear about how this all started and how he tries to release as many as possible back into the wild
Everyone enjoyed getting up close to them and to be able to handle them
Give him a follow on face book its worth it

As well as our members we had visitors from other wi groups who look like inviting him along for their members to enjoy

We have the owl man of stocksbridge visiting us for this evenings meeting
All visitors are welcome £5 each

But due to the icy conditions the concensus of the group is to stay safe and warm sowe have cancelled the meeting

It was our christmas party last night and it was a wonderful evening of fun and frivolity , food made by the commitee and games played
Every year we like to support a charity local to us and it always amazes me how generous they all are especially as times are hard for everyone
So thank you for all these items you gifted
These are going to our local foodbank to hopefully make christmas a little easier for some

Had a lovely talk from a retired yeoman of the guard enlightening us about his life in the tower of London
Followed by a fantastic afternoon tea

Hi everyone. In light of the icy conditions that are currently playing havoc with travelling anywhere, the committee have decided that we like you all too much to ask you to risk life and limb getting to the meeting on Wednesday night. Temperatures are set to be sub zero on Wednesday evening and we know this might place us firmly in the sensible snowflake category but we’d prefer to see you all minus any broken limbs next month. Our speaker has already had to cancel due to family issues but she’s hoping to reschedule for later this year. Stay safe and warm and we’ll see you all on February 5th. Thank you

For this month only we are having our on the 2nd Sunday of the month and from 10am-1pm. Join us at the Inman pavilion on 12th January. Bring your own sewing machine and project and we’ll provide the hot drinks and sweet treats. Drop us a DM or pop into to book your place so we can have a table set up ready for you. ☀️
