Thank you Ros Ayres of Now Then magazine for highlighting the efforts of Five Rivers Cohousing and communities across Sheffield who are helping our swifts thrive.

Sheffield Swift Network is trying to make our city a place where swifts can continue to breed and return year after year. A visit to Five Rivers Cohousing showed me why they're losing their nesting places and how we can help.

Huge congratulations to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust on installing 70 Peak Boxes' fab 3D‑printed swift nest boxes - across Chesterfield! 🐦

“It’s really heartwarming, and it goes to show what a huge impact we can have for nature when communities join forces.”

Great to see Jan-Erik Bullett of Nestworks featured, whose installation expertise and support have also been invaluable to swift nest provision here in Sheffield.

Five neighbourhoods have welcomed 70 new homes for the under-threat migratory bird.

Fantastic work — thank you, Councillor Ben Miskell, Park & Arbourthorne, our Jess S2 Swifts, Jan from Nestworks for fitting, and all involved! 👏

As well as the swift boxes featured in the reel, four swift bricks have also been installed, creating secure, long-lasting nesting places for Sheffield’s Red-listed Swifts.

Please share to help more people give swifts somewhere to call home. 💙

The new information board at Norfolk Heritage Park looks great - a brilliant complement to the Action for Swifts swift bricks and swift boxes installed by Nestworks .
A huge thank you to Rosemary and the team at Friends of Norfolk Heritage Park, Jess from S2 Swifts, Helen at RSPB Sheffield Local Group, and East LAC for funding the project.

Listen out for the swift attraction caller, which will play from May to August to help encourage these wonderful birds to nest here.

Please get in touch if you’d like to find out how you can help Sheffield’s Red-listed Swifts. 🐦

This beautiful long awaited Swift chick is peeping out from one of S17 Totley Swifts member Julie Gay’s Peak Boxes nest boxes.

Julie credits the Swift caller placed near the entrance: '𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘸𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘹 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. '

A lovely reminder that safe nest spaces, patience and monitoring can make all the difference.

Tonights releases went really well. We released five swifts which flew off beautifully all together in the skies and were joined by others too. Just amazing to see.
Then we took 4 house Martins to be released, 3 flew off and joined an existing colony which all greeted the youngsters and flew round and round with them. One just wasn't yet confident enough to go. So he's come back with us and we'll try again in a couple of days. Hopefully you can see them on the videos as they perform in the skies for us ❤️❤️
