RivelinCo is a neighbourhood arts centre without walls, proudly based in Hillsborough and working across North Sheffield. We make and curate arts activities and undertake civic and community work, just like a building-based arts centre, except our programme takes place in parks, supermarkets, community centres, high streets, car parks, empty shops, libraries, schools, and care homes - temporarily

transforming them into theatres, cinemas, galleries, workshops, classrooms and forums. We create and curate exciting shows, projects and events in unexpected places. We lead creative workshops that bring together people of all ages and walks of life to learn new skills. We collaborate creatively with local people, artists, businesses, and community organisations. Our projects are about people, and place. We celebrate. We question. We play. We believe access to culture is a human right, and our definition of culture is broad: our remit includes gardening, cooking, crafts, cinema, languages and sports as often as it includes theatre, dance, music and visual arts. Our approach is inclusive, intergenerational and environmentally sustainable. We prioritise respect, kindness and care: for our community, for our team, for our collaborators, and for the planet.

🛸🎟️ Tickets Have Landed!

Tickets for Kids to the Front are now live on our website.

A fun, interactive live music and theatre experience packed with songs, storytelling and plenty of chances to join in. Recommended for children aged 0–7 and their families, but all ages are welcome!

Whilst travelling across the universe, The Boogie Woogie Space Junk Band crash-land in your hometown! Their trusty supersonic space pig, Brian, has gone missing, and only the children in the audience can help find him. Join the adventure through music, storytelling and interactive fun as the band races to launch their debut electro-punk album into the stars!

Created by Crescendorious, Kids to the Front is a joyful gig-theatre adventure designed especially for younger audiences and their grown-ups.

We're also pleased to be offering a number of free places through the Healthy Holidays programme for children who receive free school meals. These tickets will be available through the Healthy Holidays booking system soon.

All performances are relaxed and welcoming, with carers, babes in arms and assistance dogs welcome. We recommend bringing along your own chairs or blankets to sit on, and feel free to bring a picnic if you'd like to make a day of it.

Spaces are limited, so we'd recommend booking in advance.

We're hosting a community screening of POWER STATION on Thursday 2nd July!

The film is about two artists who set out to take their street off the grid, kickstarting a solar-powered revolution. It charts their turbulent journey, from pitching the idea to their neighbours, to sleeping on the roof of their home, to raising finance and launching a bid for a Christmas number one!

Our human powered, fully articulated ‘Fish Out Of Water’ sculpture will be heading out and about to different outdoor events in North Sheffield this summer, but before then artist Dan Jones needs your help to design and make scales to cover its body! Join Dan at RivelinCo for a free drop-in Fish Scale Making workshop, where you'll design and craft scales that will be used to decorate the final sculpture, using materials from the brilliant Scrapdragon.

The events runs 1pm until 4pm but you are welcome to just drop by for a while, you don’t need to stay the whole time. It's free and you don't need to book a ticket, just turn up. All materials will be provided and everyone is welcome, but younger children should be accompanied by an adult.

Our full access statement is coming soon. The space doesn’t have steps but there is a plastic ridge across the door frame. We have an accessible all-gender toilet with baby change, and we will have air purifiers running. We have a portable hearing loop.

🦁✨ The Pride of Yorkshire trail launches TODAY! ()

We're delighted to be one of the destinations on this year's trail and even more delighted to be hosting not one, not two, but FOUR incredible lion cubs in the windows of our Neighbourhood Arts Space on Middlewood Road!

You can now come and meet:

🦁 Soaring With Pride (by Marlcliffe Primary School)
🦁 Barry (by .drawing.shop)

It is an honour to share our windows with brilliant local primary schools and creative partners who have helped bring these cubs to life. The Pride of Yorkshire trail is also raising vital funds for Sheffield Children's Hospital, such an important Sheffield institution, meaning these cubs are part of something even bigger.

While our opening hours vary, the cubs are proudly displayed in our windows and can be enjoyed by everyone passing by. Whether you're following the Pride of Yorkshire trail or simply heading through Hillsborough, be sure to stop and say hello!

A huge congratulations to all of the young people, artists, teachers and organisations involved. We know just how much thought and creativity has gone into each of the cubs!

🦁✨ There is someone very special we'd like you to meet...

This is Starling the Lion Cub!

Over the last seven months, the young people of RivelinCo's Young Creatives group have been on quite a journey bringing Starling to life as part of .

We wanted our Young Creatives to be involved in every step of this project. The group named Starling, developed the original concept and design, helped fundraise through handmade merchandise sales and a sponsored creative litter pick, and carefully painted the cub itself!

Their design features sweeping Yorkshire moorlands and peaks, with colours inspired by Yorkshire's natural landscapes: purple heather, rolling green hills, golden sunshine and pink foxgloves. It also incorporates original wildlife artwork created by members of the group, including curlews, puffins and otters (we shared some close-ups of these designs a few weeks ago!), reflecting the rich & varied natural habitats of Yorkshire.

A special thank you goes to the brilliant printmaker and artist , who guided the group through the painting process, helped bring their ideas to life on the cub, and even found herself adding the final whiskers in her back garden!

We are really excited for Starling to join the Pride of Yorkshire trail when it launches this Monday. You may already have spotted some of Starling's larger counterparts wrapped up around the city!

And Starling hasn't arrived alone... 👀

We already have some other lion cubs settling into RivelinCo HQ, and we can't wait to introduce you to them too.

What a beautiful day we had on Saturday, officially opening our new space in Hillsborough and sharing it with everyone.

There was badge making with , seed planting, face painting and our public living room - and nearly 300 people came to join the fun!

We're looking forward to hosting creative activities here all year round, and sharing the space with artists and community groups too.

We're so looking forward to our upcoming 'Sun Stories' workshop taking place as part of Migration Matters Festival 2026!

Friday 19th June
1pm - 4:30pm

Join artist Liam Skillen for a gentle and welcoming workshop at RivelinCo exploring writing and cyanotype printing. Taking inspiration from Liam’s grandfather’s poetry and Hungarian indigo dyeing processes, you’ll use sunlight to create your own printed napkins that weave in fragments of writing. You don’t need any experience and all materials are included, as well as snacks and drinks.

Come along to our Opening Day Celebration tomorrow, Saturday 30th May, 12pm - 4pm, at our new Neighbourhood Arts Space at 96-100 Middlewood Road (opposite Hillsborough bookshop).

Meet our team, have a cuppa in our public living room, get your face painted, and have a go at creative activities. It's free and there's no need to book, drop in any time throughout the afternoon. All ages welcome.

Writing a funding bid can be tricky – so we’re here to help! Ahead of the next deadline for Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice grants (DYCP), join our Director Linda Bloomfield to talk through the process of applying, get help putting together a realistic budget, and any other advice that will help you to kickstart (or finish) your application. We recommend bringing your laptop or notebook along with you!
