We are now operating our food pantry in four locations across the island. If you would like supportive food access then contact our Community Development worker Alison and she will be happy to help. Alternatively come and find us any Tuesday:

Nutts Avenue in Leysdown from 9.30am to 11am
Thistle Hill Community Centre car park from 11.30am to 12.15pm
Holy Trinity Church, Broadway, Sheerness from 12.30pm to 1.15pm
Rushenden Wellbeing Hub, Manor Road from 2pm to 4pm

Swale Borough Council are recruiting for the independent chair for the Sheppey East Neighbourhood Board

The government funded Pride in Place Programme is launching neighbourhood boards across the country, and Sheppey East is now looking for a volunteer chair to lead the £20 million of long-term investment in the area.

Working alongside MP Kevin McKenna and the council, the chair will play a pivotal role in bringing the community together, creating a space where local voices, ideas, and ambitions can shape the future of Sheppey East.

They are looking for someone who:

✅ is deeply connected and committed to Sheppey East
✅can bring together different voices from across their community
✅has local credibility and will be respected as a leader (even if this is their first leadership role)
✅ensures that all voices are heard and discussions are collaborative
✅can find consensus while navigating conflict fairly and impartially
✅brings together community groups, prioritising community engagement
✅is clear about their own knowledge gaps and considers how the makeup of the board complements this
✅thinks laterally and creatively about solutions to problems
✅can act as a public face and represents the Board externally

UPDATE: 24th February 2026

We are planning to come back to Thistle Hill in April, so if you, or someone you know needs food support through a food pantry, then please let them know we are now open for new memberships starting after Easter. We will come back to the car park at Thistle Hill Community Centre from 11.30am to 12.15pm.

We have also changed the name of the project to Food Connections, but we are still the Sheppey Support Bus Project at heart!

Hello everyone, it’s been a little while since our last update, but we have some fantastic news to share!

You may remember that back in January, our support van was stolen and never recovered. The outpouring of kindness and encouragement from the community during that time was incredible, and we remain deeply grateful for all the support we received.

Last Monday, our friends at Interforce made an incredibly generous donation of a minibus to us and Oasis Hub Isle of Sheppey to support both the food project and our youth work.
We’ve got some exciting plans in the pipeline and will be sharing more details soon. This donation means we can get back on track to relaunch a fuller Sheppey Support Bus Project in January 2026.

So, keep an eye out for updates—there are a couple of exciting new initiatives we can’t wait to announce!
