Seven years ago, an inspiring journey began in the Darent Valley, led by the Darent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme.
It was driven by a shared vision: not only to protect the valley’s natural beauty, but to reconnect communities with the land, its history, and with one another. The project brought together 13 dedicated partners, including the Kent Downs National Landscape, North West Kent Countryside Partnership, and the Kent Wildlife Trust.
Now, as the Darent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme comes to an end, we’re taking a moment to celebrate. £5 million of funding. More than 40 projects. Thousands of people involved. Wildlife welcomed back. History uncovered. Paths re-opened. Voices heard.
This wasn’t just a landscape project. It was a people project.
Over the next few weeks, we’re telling the story of what’s been accomplished — and what’s still to come. This valley has always had heart. Now, it has a legacy.

The project was made possible thanks to funding from , European Interreg Experience project, and support from a wide range of local partners. Thanks to National Lottery players.
