Making Space helps people with support needs, and their carers, to lead independent and fulfilling lives. They're now expanding into Craven and will be popping along to our Wellbeing Café here The Place in Settle on Tuesday 10th November for a chat.
They can offer carers:
- Emotional support
- Advocacy
- Signposting to wider opportunities and help

Today at Settle station!!

Settle Carlisle Railway CRP Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line

Tomorrow Wednesday 30th September is the volunteer open day at Settle Station and Shop.

If you live in Settle or nearby or indeed anywhere along the line as our volunteers receive free train travel to their 'place of volunteering' from home why not pop along between 10.30am and 2pm to meet some of the friendly team and find out what roles are available.

There is scope to volunteer at any station along the line and everywhere in between, you could lead a walk, lead a talk or lead a team ... or if you prefer less of a leadership role then there are lots of ways you can do that too - help in a shop, a signal box or even 'behind the scenes' with social media, membership or IT

We have volunteers of all ages, from all backgrounds, giving from a day a week to a day a month and we are grateful for them all

Worried about your child va**ng, or being pressured to do things that they don’t want to? Come for a friendly chat, helpful advice and hot coffee ☕

At next week’s Parents Together (29th September) we’ll be talking about va**ng. And we will be joined by Sarah Parkinson from CYP and prevention smoking service for North Yorkshire Council.

Did you know that nearly one fifth of 11- to 17-year-olds in the UK have tried va**ng?
Because vapes haven’t been around for very long, the long-term health risks aren’t yet known. But, we do know that they’re bad for our health, based on what we know about ni****ne and other chemicals in vapes.

Parents Together is held every Tuesday (term-time) at Coopers Cafe Bar in Skipton at 10am to 11.30am. You don’t need to book, just turn up on the day ❤️

The Confident Carer - Getting your voice heard
Are you caring for a family member, partner, or friend? Are you ever in a situation where you wish you knew how to get your point across? Is everything a fight?
It’s easy to put your own needs aside, but your voice and your rights matter!
Join our supportive, practical workshops designed specifically for carers to help you speak up with confidence. You will learn how to communicate your needs clearly without guilt. Gain the tools, knowledge, and confidence you deserve to ensure both you and the person you care for are fully supported.
Delivered by two very experienced facilitators Candy Squire-Watt and Alex Beaumont, this short programme, of two friendly and informal workshops will cover; Confidence and Self-Care, Self- Advocacy and overcoming the fear of conflict.
Booking is essential.
