🐾 COULD YOU FOSTER A DOBERMANN? 🐾

We’re delighted to have found a foster home for Sonny, but rescue never really stops — and we never know when the next Dobermann will need our help. ❤️

That’s why we’re looking for foster homes across Scotland to join our waiting list, ready to help when a dog comes into our care.

Having approved fosterers ready and waiting can make an enormous difference. It can mean that when a dog suddenly needs somewhere safe to go, we already have someone we can call rather than having to start our search from scratch.

🏡 What does fostering involve?

Our fosterers provide a safe, loving home while we get to know the dog and find the right permanent home for them. Scottish Dobermann Rescue remains responsible for the dog throughout the foster period and covers agreed veterinary costs.

We need fosterers with all kinds of circumstances. Some dogs need to be the only pet, some can live with other dogs, and their needs and personalities vary enormously — so the more approved foster homes we have, the better chance we have of finding the right match when a dog needs us.

You don’t need to be ready to take a dog right now. We’re looking for people who would be happy to complete our application and home-check process and join our foster waiting list for future dogs.

📍 Foster homes must be based in Scotland.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering a Dobermann, now is a great time to get in touch.

You might not know which dog needs you yet — but when that call comes, having a foster home ready could change everything for them. ❤️🐾

Please get in touch with us or complete our application form if you’d like to be considered as a fosterer.

🐾 KRAI UPDATE 🐾

We’ve received an update from Krai’s owner to let us know that Krai has now been rehomed privately and is therefore no longer looking for a home through Scottish Dobermann Rescue.

We know there was a great deal of interest in Krai, with a number of applications being considered and home checks already underway. We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who applied, offered Krai a home, or gave up their time to help us with the home-check process. ❤️

As Krai’s rehoming was arranged privately by his owner and not through Scottish Dobermann Rescue, we were not involved in selecting or arranging his new home.

We wish Krai all the very best and hope he settles happily into his new home. 🐾

💔 Sonny has lost the person who was at the centre of his world. Now we'd really like to give him something to look forward to.

Following the heartbreaking loss of his owner, 6-year-old Sonny has found himself needing a new family.

Friendly, affectionate and beautifully mannered, Sonny walked wonderfully on the lead and passed dogs, people, traffic and even buses without a reaction. He happily allowed our assessor to check his ears, teeth and paws, showed no food or toy guarding and greeted strangers with nothing but friendliness.

His assessor summed him up as a “lovely, friendly, big boy” and told us:

“Whoever gets this boy will be very lucky.”

Sonny hasn't been around children, so we don't yet know how he would cope living with them, and he'll need a home without cats or small furries.

More than anything, this lovely boy needs some stability again. He's experienced an enormous change in his life and may need a little support while he adjusts, but there is so much to love about him.

At six years old, we'd really rather he wasn't spending his days in kennels when he could be curled up beside someone again. 🥹

Please share Sonny. Somewhere out there is the person who gets to be the lucky one. 🖤🤎🐾

✨ Surely Krai’s person is out there somewhere? ✨

We’d love to get some more eyes on this handsome 4-year-old boy. 🖤🤎

When our assessor met Krai, the feedback started with:

“Someone is going to be so lucky.” ❤️

And that pretty much sums him up.

Krai is a friendly, happy, bouncy Dobermann with a goofy side and that classic Velcro personality. He was a pleasure to walk during his assessment – no pulling and no reactivity – and he absolutely loves being around people.

He still has things to learn, particularly his recall, but he’s an eager boy with so much potential for someone willing to put the time into him.

His family have made a very difficult decision because they want the best possible future for him. Now we need to find the person who can give him exactly that.

Could Krai be the Dobermann you’ve been waiting for? 🐾

🖤🤎 SONNY 🐾

Our handsome 6-year-old Sonny is seeking an emmergecy foster placement ❤️

Our assessor described him as a “lovely, friendly, big boy” with good manners who walks beautifully on the lead and is very treat-oriented.

Sonny happily passed other dogs and people without reacting and remained completely unfazed walking alongside a busy main road with plenty of traffic and buses. He was friendly with strangers, comfortable being handled and showed no issues whatsoever when food or toys were taken away.

He's an affectionate, people-loving boy who has spent his life as a much-loved family dog and, through heartbreaking circumstances completely beyond his control, now needs to find someone new to love.

Sonny has no known experience of living with children, so this would need careful consideration, and we're looking for a cat and small-furry-free home.

After everything that's changed in his world recently, he'll understandably need some time, patience and reassurance while he settles into a new life.

But our assessor's verdict says an awful lot:

“Whoever gets this boy will be very lucky.” 🥹❤️

Now we just need to find them.

🖤🤎 KRAI IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME 🐾

How has this gorgeous boy not been snapped up yet?

Krai is 4 years old and, according to our assessor, is an absolute joy. He’s friendly, affectionate, bouncy and wonderfully goofy – everything you’d expect from a typical Dobermann! ❤️

He walks beautifully on the lead, doesn’t pull, was completely non-reactive during his assessment and is eager to learn. He’s also a proper Velcro Dobie who loves being close to his people.

Krai currently only enjoys off-lead freedom in secure fields, so his recall will need some work, and he is used to being crated when left.

We feel Krai would thrive as the only dog initially, giving his new family the chance to concentrate on his training and build that all-important bond. However, there is nothing from his assessment to suggest he couldn't potentially live with a suitably matched female.

Someone really is going to be incredibly lucky to call this boy theirs. 🥹

📢 Sharing Saves Lives

Not everyone can foster.

Not everyone can adopt.

But almost everyone can press Share.

Every time you share one of our posts, you're helping a Dobermann reach hundreds—or even thousands—more people.

Many of our successful adoptions have happened because someone shared a post that eventually reached the right family.

It takes just a few seconds, but it can completely change a dog's future.

So next time you see one of our appeals, please like it, comment on it, and most importantly—share it.

You never know who might be looking for their perfect companion, or who might be able to offer a foster home just when it's needed most.

💙 Every Donation Changes a Life

Every dog that comes into our care brings with them a different story.

Some need routine veterinary treatment. Others need emergency care, behavioural support, specialist food, transport, or weeks—sometimes months—of fostering before they're ready for a new beginning.

Every penny donated helps us give these incredible dogs the second chance they deserve.

Whether it's £2 or £200, every donation makes a genuine difference and allows us to say "yes" when another Dobermann needs help.

If you'd like to support our work, please consider making a donation or organising a fundraiser in your local community.

Together, we're giving Dobermanns the future they deserve. ❤️🐾
