Scottish Men's Shed of the Year Awards 2026

Scotland's Outstanding Men's Sheds Celebrated in 2026 National Awards
The Scottish Men's Sheds Association (SMSA) – Scotland’s leading men’s health and wellbeing charity – is delighted to announce the regional winners of the Scottish Men's Shed of the Year Awards 2026, recognising the exceptional contribution Men's Sheds make to improving men's health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation and strengthening communities across Scotland.

Following an outstanding number of nominations from every corner of the country, five regional winners have been selected, reflecting the remarkable diversity and impact of the Scottish Men's Shed movement. Today, the movement includes more than 210 Men's Sheds across all 32 of Scotland's local authority areas, supporting over 12,000 volunteer Shedders aged 18 and over.

The winners are:
Region 1 – East Coast (North): Ellon Men's Shed
Region 2 – East Coast (South): Stonehaven Men's Shed
Region 3 – West Coast (North): Milngavie and Bearsden Men's Shed
Region 4 – West Coast (South): Irvine New Town Men's Shed
Region 5 – Highlands & Islands: Badenoch Men's Shed
Introduced in 2025, the regional element ensure that Sheds from across Scotland are recognised, while highlighting the unique contribution each makes within its own community.

Judges faced an exceptionally difficult task, with this year's nominations showcasing an inspiring range of community projects, volunteering initiatives, intergenerational work, local partnerships and wider community engagement. From tackling loneliness and supporting wellbeing to restoring local spaces, mentoring others and creating lasting friendships, every nominated Shed demonstrated the positive difference the movement continues to make.

Jason Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer of the Scottish Men's Sheds Association, said:
"The standard of nominations this year was simply outstanding. Every single Shed that entered should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and the difference they make to the lives of their members and their communities.

"Introducing regional awards has allowed us to celebrate excellence right across Scotland and recognise the incredible work taking place in every part of the country. Our regional winners represent the very best of the Men's Shed movement, while also reflecting the passion, kindness and dedication found in Sheds across Scotland.

"On behalf of everyone at the SMSA, I offer my warmest congratulations to our regional winners and thank every Shed that took the time to enter. Together, you continue to demonstrate the life-changing impact that Men's Sheds have on men's health, wellbeing and community life."

The Scottish Men's Shed of the Year Awards celebrate the achievements of Men's Sheds that go above and beyond in supporting their volunteer members, promoting health and wellbeing and making a lasting contribution to their local communities.

All five winners receive their regional title and certificate and will now be considered by the SMSA Board of Trustees, who will select three national finalists. Those finalists will then go forward to a vote from SMSA individual members to determine the Scottish Men's Shed of the Year 2026. The winner will be announced at the SMSA's Annual National Gathering, AGM and Awards event on Friday 28 August 2026 at Perth & Kinross Council Chambers and Civic Hall.

The three national finalists will also receive a trophy, certificate and a range of prizes and funding from the SMSA and its awards partners and sponsors to support their Shed.
