Step 3: Admire your work! It's really something to able to put the art directly on the gallery wall as soon as the paint is dry enough.
We were blown away by these ambitious, inventive colourful visions of parts of galashiels, the market Square, Channel St, Park St, and sections of the gala water near curry's that is currently very hard to access, all locations painted here full of fun and activity.

Step 2: BUSY painting big bold and beautiful Banners of the town and for the town. Re-imagining parts of Galashiels how you would love them to be, with no limits thinking...
The banners are old recycled town banners from the display poles in the centre. Our Brighten Up Gala Paint big event took place on Saturday and to those of ALL ages and abilities we had artists as young as 3 and as old as...well quite old! Everyone worked really hard on these paintings.

Hidden talent! Check out this collage art made at a workshop to honor a women who inspires you for women's history month, at Adobe's Edinburgh office. Well done everyone who dived in and tried something very different to your usual day at work. 😍

Fabulous screen prints made during the first of two 'People's Banner' workshops with Lara.
Join us again on Wednesday evening for a FREE session to bring this first banner together....next is sewing the prints together and adding in colourful patchwork and creative stitching
No prior experience needed! It will then pop up in town, bringing ideas, positivity and a sense of welcome to the centre of galashiels.

Thanks it was a great day with so many fantastic workshops for kids, all free!
People from age 3 to 73 made string art with us, working at their own level of ability. It was lovely that so many familes worked together, parents getting stuck in and excited about patterns too. Some cool maths used and learnt along the way. It was too busy to take many photos, but here's a random selection. Around 240 string art circles were made on the day!!!
Massive thanks to the staff and volunteers who helped so much, couldn't have managed without you!

Impressed!! People were so inventive today making bags from upcycled fabrics. Old clothes, tents, bags, all sorts of waste textiles ....reinvented in some beautiful, wacky and totally functionall bags. We'll done to all!

This workshop at Little Art Hub was part of a programme of monthly sessions on the first Saturday every month, funded by crowdfunder and this session and last month were also funded by focusing on climate action though creative upcycling of textiles.

Next month will be also very exciting ... we have mosaic making with local artist Joy Parker so look out for that coming up.
