The countdown to Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2027 has officially begun with the launch of Scottish Apprenticeship Awards nominations!

Award categories spotlight the outstanding achievements of Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprentices, and the employers and learning providers who support them. Nominate an inspirational apprentice, employer or learning provider

Edinburgh Castle Careers Fair - Heritage Careers Week.

Come to Edinburgh Castle after hours to meet employers in the heritage sector, colleges and universities, and discover the range of skills and careers it takes to protect Scotland's heritage. From architecture and surveying to creative skills, construction, skills for nature and climate, galleries, libraries, archives and museums, archaeology and much more, understand what options are open to you, learn more about careers and study pathways, and find your place the heritage sector.

Open to young people exploring their career and study options, career changers, and people looking to enter the heritage sector as a career. This event is also suitable for parents, carers and careers advisors.

👀 Any trades people across the region who are keen to get involved in our upcoming Skills Days across all Borders secondary schools, please do get in touch. A brilliant opportunity to get hands on & raise awareness about the huge range of careers with the construction sector.

🔧 Inspiring the Next Generation of Tradespeople!

Today our boss Brandon was at Jedburgh Grammar School, working alongside Developing the Young Workforce (DYW Borders) and giving pupils a hands-on introduction to some entry-level plumbing skills.

The pupils got stuck in working with copper pipe and fittings, learning some of the basic skills used within the plumbing and heating industry. 🔧🔥

At Wright Flow, we’re big believers in supporting the next generation and showing young people that the trades can offer a brilliant career with loads of opportunities to learn, progress and build a future.

It was great for Brandon to pass on some of his knowledge and experience — and hopefully inspire a few future plumbers and heating engineers along the way! 👏

🌉 Engineering in action at the Forth!

What a fantastic day for our S3 Engineering Science pupils from Earlston High School, who visited the Forth Bridges Engineering Centre last Wednesday with Engineering Teacher Neil Woodcock and DYW Coordinator Amy Hamilton.

The students met Civil Engineer Elaine, who has worked on the new bridge, and found out about the different types of engineering and the wide range of careers involved in designing, building and maintaining major structures.

They learned about the three Forth bridges and how engineering has evolved over time- including the fascinating fact that the iconic Forth Rail Bridge was built in Victorian times! 🤯

Students completed a bridge-building challenge, taking on roles including Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Health & Safety Manager and Communications Manager — developing their teamwork, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills along the way.

The day finished with a walk across the bridge, with Mr Woodcock pointing out real-life engineering in action.

We were so proud of our pupils who asked lots of questions, showed genuine curiosity and were eager to learn more about engineering and the careers within it. 👏

And those incredible views! 📸🌉

A brilliant day of learning and seeing Engineering Science come to life beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to BEAR Scotland for such an exciting and inspiring visit.
