🏆💚 Highly Commended for Environmental Impact!

We’re absolutely delighted that Sustainable Borders was awarded Highly Commended in the Environmental Impact Award at the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards!

For our small team to receive this recognition alongside so many fantastic businesses and organisations across the Scottish Borders means a huge amount to us!

Every day, our team works across our communities supporting households to reduce their energy bills, improving energy efficiency and helping make the Scottish Borders a fairer and more sustainable place to live - so having that impact recognised is something we’re incredibly proud of 💚

A huge thank you to the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce for a fantastic evening, and congratulations to Eildon Housing and all the other award winners! 👏

We may have been runners-up, but we’re very happily bringing a Highly Commended award back to the Sustainable Borders office. Be sure to look out for it in our window! 🏆

🏡 Do you know your home’s EPC rating?
Or maybe a better question is… do you know what an EPC actually is?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a bit like an energy efficiency MOT for your home. It tells you how energy efficient your property is, gives it a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and, importantly, highlights improvements that could help make your home warmer, more comfortable and cheaper to heat.

And right now, Sustainable Borders can provide this completely FREE to eligible homeowners and private rent tenants across the Scottish Borders.

Thanks to funding and support from the Scottish Government’s Community Led Local Development (CLLD) Fund, our team can provide:

🏠 A FREE Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
🔍 A FREE home energy assessment to look at where your property could be improved
💡 Clear, practical advice on measures that could make your home more energy efficient
💷 Help to identify government-funded energy efficiency schemes and measures you may be eligible for
👷‍♀️Signpost you to local, reputable installers
🤝 Support from our team to help you understand your options and access the right help

And we don’t just hand you an EPC and send you on your way.

Our aim is to help you understand your home, identify where energy may be being wasted and explore what improvements could realistically make a difference. If there is funded support available for measures such as insulation, heating, renewables or other energy-efficiency improvements, we’ll help you navigate your options and access the appropriate schemes.

You don’t need to know anything about EPCs or energy efficiency before getting in touch - that’s what we’re here for.

Well done Claire and Dan for pulling this together to showcase our ebikes to Eildon Housing. If you're interested in the benefits of active travel would like to try one of our ebikes for free get in touch 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

To mark Cycle to Work Day yesterday as well as some staff members cycling to work, we were delighted that Borders could come along to our Weaving Shed office to offer free e-bike taster sessions for staff members.

Sustainable Borders staff brought along four electric bikes to try out. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience the benefits of electric cycling during our lunch break. In line with our sustainable aspirations, e-bikes can make commuting easier, enjoyable, and more accessible, helping people travel further with less effort while supporting healthier and more sustainable travel choices.

🌞 We're Recruiting - Project Manager! 🌞

Would you like to help shape the future of community energy in Selkirk?

Selkirk Regeneration is looking for a Project Manager to lead the exciting next stage of the Selkirk Local Energy Club - an innovative community project that will help local households, businesses and community buildings benefit from electricity generated by local rooftop solar.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a pioneering project that has the potential to become the first of its kind in the Scottish Borders, creating lasting benefits for our community and inspiring similar initiatives elsewhere.

📍 Based in Selkirk
🕒 20 hours per week
💷 Circa £38,000 FTE (£19,000 pro rata)
📅 6-month contract (with the potential to extend)
⏰ Closing date: Friday 25 August 2026 at 12 noon

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, building partnerships, coordinating projects and making a real difference in their community.

We’re halfway through the school holidays, but there are still plenty of activities, sports sessions and family-friendly opportunities happening in and around Selkirk — including sessions at the Philiphaugh Community Centre and Rowland's (Selkirk).
