Discover the magic of Sedlescombe toilets……….. oops there may only be one remaining.
From the Parish Council
We need your help
Please write to Cllr Paul Osborne, Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee to let him know that you support the parish council continuing to ask that the toilets are handed over to the parish council so the facilities remain in the village. Please write to Paul Osbourne at Rother to make your feeelings felt about the planned 'Nail Bar' conversion of the toilets in Sedlescombe
On Monday 7th July Rother District Councils Overview and Scrutiny Committee will meet to discuss a decision made by its Cabinet to give a lease for the Sedlescombe toilets to a company proposing to turn the building into a nailbar.
Here is Paul Osbornes amial address [email protected]
ash him also to forward your email to the cheif executive Loran Ford and to the leader Doug Oliver.
In 2023 The Parish Council asked you if you would like us to take over the Sedlesombe toilets so they could remain open and in use.
You told us you did want us to take them over, that you would definitely want a separate men’s and you wanted us to have them on a freehold basis.
Since then Sedlescombe Parish Council have been trying to work with Rother District Council to make this happen. It would help if you could email Cllr Paul Osborn to let him know that you the residents want the facilities to remain for village residents and for the freehold to be passed to the parish council
Sedlescombe Parish Council believe that at a time of declining public services, keeping this building and renovating it to a modern standard will be a positive contribution to our village BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Remember the toilets were not built by Rother District Council they were built by the developer of Gammons Way for the residents. Rother may legally own them but it is a betrayal of residents to change their use.
Which would you prefer a nail bar which may of course fail with limited opening hours for a single shared toilet. or for the Parish Council to provide a modernised properly ventialted toilet facility with mens . womens, disbaled baby changing facilities in perpetuity?
Please make your feeling known
The business are proposing to only leave one communal toilet with the following Proposed Opening hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 9:00 - 18:00
Sunday 10.00 - 16.00
Not public holidays.
On a Wednesday please ask your children not to need the loo on the school run.
