The speaker at the next meeting of Sedgley Local History Society will be Mary Bodfish, popular speaker and Chair of Smethwick Local History Society. Her presentation, 'Early Years at Soho', celebrates the industrialist Mathew Boulton and his partnership with renowned engineer/inventor James Watt, which set Birmingham on its journey to become the 'workshop of the world'.

All welcome to this event at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday, 14th May (venue: St. Andrew's Church, Bilston Street, Sedgley DY3 1JA). Admission: £2.00.

'Rogues, Villains and Peaky Blinders' is the topic at Sedgley Local History Society, 7.30 p.m. Thursday 12th March 2026, when Corinne Brazier (Heritage Manager, West Midlands Police Museum) will give insights into the real-life stories of Birmingham's criminals and gangsters at the end of the Victorian era/beginning of the 20th century. The event takes place just a few days after the premiere of the new 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man' movie, and visitors are welcome to get into the spirit by wearing Peaky Blinders fashion if they wish! All welcome: St. Andrew's Church, Bilston Street, Sedgley DY3 1JA - £2.00 entrance.
