A couple of weeks ago, we were delighted to host Mel & Lee’s engagement photo shoot in the garden, making the most of the beautiful surroundings and capturing some truly special moments ahead of their big day.

We can’t wait to welcome them back for their wedding at Galesyke in July 2027! 💍✨

A huge thank you to Steven Wilson - Photography for these fantastic images.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the garden at the weekend! 🌿

We welcomed 228 visitors and, thanks to your generosity, raised an amazing £2,072. Thank you to everyone who visited, donated, volunteered, and supported the event.

As usual, we were far too busy to take photos ourselves — so if you captured any moments from the day, we’d love to see them in the comments 📸

And don’t forget… our August Garden Open Weekend is still to come. We hope to see you there! 🌸

Skip the car and enjoy the journey 🌿🚌

If you’re visiting the May Garden Open Weekend, hop on the Wasdale Explorer bus from Ravenglass, Muncaster, Holmrook or Gosforth and get off at Nether Wasdale — the garden is just a short walk along the road.

Why not make a day of it? Explore the garden, then enjoy coffee or lunch at the The Wasdale Sawmill , or round things off with a drink at The Strands Inn, Screes Inn, Strands Distillery & Brewery. 🍰☕🍺

After years standing tall, our much-loved monkey puzzle tree is sadly in serious decline and will soon need to be removed for safety reasons. These photos show the difference in the tree now compared to just three years ago.

The May Garden Open Weekend could be your last chance to see this remarkable tree in person before it’s taken down. If it’s ever caught your eye, now’s the time to stop by and say goodbye. 🌲

Nature showing off a little. 🌸 🌿

Everywhere you look, the garden is bursting with colour. Full bloom season never lasts long enough though, so let's hope there's still some colour to enjoy at the May Garden Open Weekend.

A victim of Storm Chandra.

At breakfast time yesterday, our lovely old Magnolia literally fell off its perch. It was a shock to see this much loved tree on the ground, but it isn't the first time we've witnessed this.

It first fell over around 30 years ago. Back then it was given a new lease of life by winching it onto a metal support, allowing it to keep on living its most lovely life. You can see from the picture that the trunk has been growing around the metal support ever since.

It's obvious from looking at the tree that it simply outgrew the support. It stood no chance against the winds that battered the garden yesterday. So, is this goodbye to an old favourite?

We hope not!

The good news is that because the tree didn't have far to fall, the roots are still in good shape. There's a possibility that we could get the trunk onto a bigger, stronger support. But we're considering just leaving the tree where it's fallen and enjoying it as a super sized Magnolia shrub.

Watch this space for more news on the newly named Fallen Magnolia Corner. 🌸
