Extremely grateful our work has been recognised by NHS Happiness Hubs who provided a grant earlier this year to fund our Public Living Room project!

This means we are able to offer a consistent community space for local residents to meet others, enjoy free refreshments and socialise in an environment that is specifically designed for the purpose of helping folks make new connections.

Every week, we have around 40 people who attend for a cuppa and a chat. Friendships have been formed from complete strangers and it’s made a positive difference to our regular Camerados group.

If you’ve been thinking about popping in, the public living room is open every Wednesday 10am - 1pm, it’s completely free to attend and there’s friendly faces waiting to welcome you 🛋️☕️😀

It’s an exciting week for us as we begin our Catherine Cookson Foundation project which involves creating a book based on the lives of our Camerados Public Living Room community!

Our team of volunteers will have training with Yvonne from Camerados before we then pull together all the inspiring stories from folks growing up in the North East, their words of wisdom for people going through tough times and what community means to them. So grateful we have the opportunity to do this and can’t wait to see the finished result! 📒

As ever, Seaham’s Public Living Room is open every Wednesday 10am - 1pm. Hot drinks & snacks are completely free and there’s a warm welcome waiting for you! Everyone here is open to talking to new people over a cuppa and a game of bingo… there’s even prizes to win!

We had a lovely visit from the staff & residents from Falstone Manor and Falstone Court Care Home today who travelled all the way from Whitburn, Sunderland! They had a lovely time and we can’t wait to welcome them back 💛🛋️☕️

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow for our weekly Camerados catchup! Every Wednesday 10am - 1pm, our local community is welcome to pop along for free hot drinks and biscuits in our Public Living Room at Hidden! ☕️

The idea is to make yourself feel at home, meet new people, enjoy a game of bingo or quiz and feel part of the community! 🫂💛

There’s no need to book, just pop in for as long as you like. Most people come alone but you’re welcome to bring someone with you, no doubt you’ll make some new friends too!

6 months of Seaham’s Public Living Room ✨🛋️ It’s been an amazing journey so far after having the idea in January to help local residents socialise and meet new people, we teamed up with Association of Camerados to create a weekly event for our community which has been embraced by Seaham and beyond.

We’re so grateful for our team of volunteers, the funding we have received from NHS Happiness Hubs & Karbon Homes to sustain the project as well as local residents who have gotten involved and helped build a warm, friendly group.

Seaham’s public living room is open every Wednesday 10am - 1pm at Hidden on the harbour, hot drinks / biscuits are provided completely free of charge and we often play bingo and do quizzes with prizes available. It’s open to all, no need to book, just pop in for as long as you like 😀🎯

Everyone’s welcome and it’s all about looking out for each other ☕️💛

It’s official… we’re making a book! 📚🚨
We always look forward to our weekly Wednesday gathering with our Camerados club but this week, we’re starting an exciting project! 🤩

With thanks to the Catherine Cookson Foundation, we’ll be collecting stories from our local community about life growing up the North East, how our public living room has impacted them and their advice for others who may be going through tough times!

At the end of the project, we’ll have a published book celebrating the voices of our community which will be an amazing token for our group.

If you’d like to join us, everyone is welcome 10am - 1pm every Wednesday at Hidden on the Harbour 4 North Terrace, SR7 7EU. Refreshments & biscuits are completely free and there’s a room full of people waiting with a warm welcome and a cuppa so come and grab a seat… 🛋️☕️

Almost our favourite time of the week Public Living Room Wednesdays 10am - 1pm at Hidden on the Harbour, come and join our Camerados club! It’s friendly group of folks all interested in meeting new people and connecting more with the local community. 🛋️☕️

It’s completely free to attend with biscuits and hot drinks provided. No pressure or expectations, just call in, stay for a quick cuppa or the whole morning. However you feel at the time.

We usually have a game of bingo or quiz most weeks so you can have a lovely morning meeting friendly faces and may even walk away with a few treats ✨🎁

What is a Public Living Room? 🤔
Quite simply, it’s a free community space for local people to attend and socialise with people they wouldn’t ordinarily cross paths with. The beauty is, everyone who attends is open to having a chat with someone new which removes the usual reservations we may have about starting up a conversation with strangers.

It’s completely free to attend, no need to book. There’s plenty of tea, coffee & biscuits so you can just help yourself… as our lovely volunteer Ruth, says… “there’s no calories on a Wednesday” 😉

It’s a welcoming space full of friendly faces. You can feel totally at ease coming along, there’ll be likeminded folk waiting to share their stories or listen to yours over a cuppa.

We meet every Wednesday between 10am - 1pm, you can stay for as long as you like.
