💜💚 SEACOMBE PRIDE IN PLACE UPDATE 💚💜

Over the last few weeks we've been out and about speaking with residents, attending community events, holding conversations and gathering survey responses to help us understand what matters most to local people.

This early engagement has been about keeping a little momentum going whilst our Neighbourhood Board is being established and before we begin a wider programme of community engagement designed to bring our community together and ensure as many voices as possible are heard.

So far, we've engaged with residents through:

📍 3 community sessions at D Hub 67

📍 WEN Summer Fair

📍 Wirral Carers Conference at Eureka!

📍 Soccer Dome engagement event

📍 Informal community conversations

📍 Social media engagement

📍 Our latest community survey, which has been running for nearly two weeks and has already received 71 responses

Combined with face-to-face conversations and event attendance, we estimate that we have already engaged with over 200 residents, community members and stakeholders.

Importantly, the feedback we're receiving is very much in line with the findings from Angela Eagle's previous community survey. It is encouraging to see the same priorities emerging from different engagement activities, giving us confidence that we are hearing the issues that matter most to local people.

The key themes emerging so far include:

✅ Cleaner streets and tackling litter and fly tipping

✅ More opportunities and activities for young people

✅ Better parks, green spaces and outdoor areas

✅ Community spaces, support services and activities

✅ Reducing anti-social behaviour and improving community safety

✅ Bringing empty buildings and neglected areas back into use

While engagement is still at an early stage, there is already a strong level of consistency in what people are telling us.

This is only the beginning.

Over the coming months we'll be working with our newly established Board, community partners and engagement specialists to carry out more targeted engagement, ensuring we reach people from all backgrounds, ages and communities across Seacombe. We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to help shape the future of our area.

💜 THINK BIG, SEACOMBE! 💚

Before anyone says it...

No, we're not building a giant climbing tower! 😄

This image is simply an example of the kind of bold thinking we'd love to encourage through Pride in Place.

Too often when we talk about improving our area, we limit ourselves to what feels possible today. But Pride in Place gives us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to think about what Seacombe could become over the next 10 years.

Imagine if an old, unused building could become an adventure centre.

Imagine if a neglected space could become a community garden.

Imagine if a forgotten corner of Seacombe became somewhere people travelled to visit.

The point isn't whether this exact idea happens. The point is to start a conversation.

🌟 If money, permissions and practicalities weren't a barrier...

Over the last few months, hundreds of residents have shared their thoughts through surveys, events, conversations and community engagement activities.

Some clear themes are beginning to emerge:

🏡 A cleaner, tidier and more welcoming Seacombe

🤝 Making sure everyone feels included and has a voice

💜 A Message from Seacombe Pride in Place 💚

Firstly, thank you to everyone who applied to join the Seacombe Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.

We understand that some people may be disappointed not to have been offered a place on the Board, particularly given the passion and commitment shown by those who applied. The reality is that we received more strong applications than there were places available.

As we move forward, it is important to remember that the Neighbourhood Board is only one part of the Pride in Place structure.

The Board's role is to listen, consider evidence and community feedback, and help shape priorities and investment decisions. It is not intended to do all of the work itself.

Over the coming months, we will be establishing Task & Finish Groups, working groups, volunteering opportunities and engagement activities focused on areas such as the environment, health and wellbeing, youth provision, community safety and other priorities identified by local people.

These groups will be absolutely vital to the success of Pride in Place. They will help gather ideas, develop projects, engage residents and ensure that the Board remains informed by the experiences and priorities of the wider community.

The future of Seacombe will not be shaped by a small group of people around a table. It will be shaped by the many residents, volunteers, community organisations, businesses and partners who choose to get involved and contribute their ideas, skills and experience.

We hope everyone who applied, whether successful or not, will continue to be part of this exciting journey. There will be many opportunities to get involved, and together we can ensure that Pride in Place truly reflects the aspirations of our community.
