📢 LOCAL GOVERNMENT PAY 2026 UPDATE
Local government unions have formally rejected the 2026 pay offer of 3.3% and are calling for meaningful negotiations with employers. The joint position has been signed by all three unions – UNISON, Unite and GMB.
UNISON members will now be balloted for strike action from 9 July.
The unions have made clear that the offer fails to address the significant loss in pay suffered by local government workers over many years and are urging employers to return to the negotiating table as a matter of urgency.
We encourage all members to stay informed and take part in the upcoming ballot.
