We meet at the Mind Rooms, Printers Yard, Fenton Street, Scunthorpe.
6.30pm-8.30pm

Anyone wanting to come for the first time or who may welcome some extra support in coming in, please let us know as we will be happy to meet you outside if you would like us to. We realise how hard it can be to make this step and will do all we can to make it as easy as we can for you.
We are a friendly, very welcoming group and we are bereaved parents ourselves.
It helps to talk or even just to listen.

Bereaved dads and partners are needed to help us better understand their experiences of care following pregnancy and baby loss.

Our Experience of Care Survey is due to close soon, but currently the voices of dads and partners are missing - with most of the responses so far from mothers.

Can you help us to reach more dads and partners? We really want to make sure their experiences are heard so we can use this to better understand how maternity and neonatal services are supporting them and where improvements are needed.

Why do we need to make sure dads and partners have their voices heard? We'll use the findings from this survey to inform future Sands’ research, strengthen our campaigning, influence policymakers and support the training of healthcare professionals.

Please share with dads and partners, and with groups of bereaved men.

Trigger warning: Baby Loss

Today I wore my NHS chaplain’s hat as alongside colleagues from the NHS and the lovely folk from Sands Scunthorpe we held a service at St Lawrence’s Church Scunthorpe to remember precious little ones.

It's Baby Loss Awareness Week and we are proud to lead an alliance of over 140 charities that have come together in remembrance of all babies and to raise awareness of the issues around pregnancy and baby loss 💙🩷

There are lots of ways for you to get involved in the week from wearing a pink and blue pin, sharing social media posts, joining our Ribbon Run challenge to taking part in a local event or Ribbon Display.

The week will end with the Global on Thursday 15 October where we ask everyone to light a candle for 1 hour at 7pm in memory of our much-loved babies.

Many bereaved parents find this week helpful as it offers a safe space to talk about and remember our babies. However, the week can also be overwhelming and intense, so we encourage you to take part in a way that is right for you and take a break from social media if you need to.

Due to overwhelming demand, we're hosting an additional Lunch and Learn session on pregnancy after loss for healthcare staff.

Taking place during Baby Loss Awareness Week, this free session will explore how healthcare staff can provide compassionate, trauma-informed and person-centred support to people experiencing a subsequent pregnancy after loss.

Pregnancy after loss can be an emotionally complex and anxiety-provoking experience for parents and families. While a new pregnancy may bring hope, it can also bring heightened fear, uncertainty and emotional distress. The care and support parents receive during this time can have a significant impact on their experience.

These sessions are designed for healthcare staff working in maternity, neonatal and early pregnancy services, as well as those providing care across wider healthcare settings. It is particularly relevant for clinical staff supporting parents during a pregnancy following pregnancy loss, stillbirth or neonatal death.
