A truly massive thank you to all the staff and management at Dunvegan Castle for choosing Skye Stroke Friends as one of the recipients of funds raised at the beautiful Snow Drop Event. We are so grateful for the £2,000 raised through the amazing support of our community. This money will make a real difference to our members and the range of support and recovery activities we provide.

We had the privilege of welcoming a nightingale and virtuoso to our group this week!🥰. Massive thanks to Eilidh and Seonaigh for coming along to give us a fantastic afternoon of music and banter to remember.

It is with real sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our dear friend and loyal volunteer Alison MacMillan. She will be sorely missed by everyone at Skye Stroke Friends.

She was a powerful example of courage and resilience in the face of adversity. She brought a wealth of experience and unwavering support of the service and all its members.

She will be remembered lovingly for all she brought and shared with us over the many years she supported us. We send our sincere condolences to all her family.

Thanks to much appreciated funding received from Muirhall Energy and The Budhmor Fund we have launched our Sunflower Fund for stroke survivors in Skye and Raasay. It’s been a year in the planning and we’re delighted to be working in partnership with our local Allied Health Professionals to make this idea a fantastic reality.

What a wonderful way to round off 2025!🥳. Huge congratulations to Mary Ann MacFarlane on being awarded the British Empire Medal! Skye Stroke Friends have benefited so much from her wisdom, leadership, generosity and loving support since she established our group as an independent charity in 2017. We had an absolutely wonderful Christmas lunch at Uig Hotel today. Thank you John and your amazing staff for the truly delicious lunch and attentive service which we all really appreciated❤️. Even Santa called to see us - although he had the challenge of trying to direct his adopted elves for the day! Not sure they managed to stay off his naughty list!🤔🤣🤣

We had a very special group meeting last Wednesday! We welcomed wonderful Portree Prinary School P6 pupils who sang, piped and danced to entertain us - and entertain us they certainly did! 🥰 They also spent time chatting and getting to know us which helped to make the experience even more special❤️. Big thank you to Head Teacher David Maclean, supporting teachers and S&L Young Carers Service for arranging the visit and providing transport. We hope you all have a truly wonderful festive season!
