We connect communities through culture, creativity, and inclusion. Maya’s Club is more than a community initiative; it's a movement. Born from resilience and rooted in love, we stand proudly in the heart of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, as a safe space where diversity is not just welcomed but celebrated. We were created in response to hate, but we move forward with the hope of uniting people from

all walks of life through culture, creativity, and connection. Whether you are joining a local event, sharing your story, or simply showing up, you are part of something powerful. At Maya’s Club, everyone belongs. We champion inclusivity, empower every voice, and believe that our differences are our greatest strength. Through cultural celebrations, creative projects, and community-led initiatives, we are rewriting the narrative from fear to unity, from silence to solidarity. Together, we are building a Scarborough that reflects the beauty of all its people. Grow with us. Celebrate with us.

As some of you might have noticed, I’ve been taking a little time away from social media. I’ve been focusing on protecting my mental health after a wave of negative messages and accusations I received — simply for doing a community Christmas dinner.

It’s been pretty appalling, and it affected my mental health far more deeply than people might realise. A big part of that is my ADHD — it means I process things intensely and emotionally, and when things go wrong, it can quickly spiral into deep depression. ADHD isn’t just about being distracted or quirky; it genuinely impacts how heavy things can feel. (If you know, you really know.)

Behind the scenes, I have still been working on things, just at a slower, gentler pace and taking care of myself. And honestly, as much as I love the support I’ve received and the community work I do, I’ve had to question whether it’s worth the cost to my mental health.

I’ll be sharing the full story on my blog soon. For now, I just want to say I love you all. Please bear with me while I recover, and please — stay healthy and happy 🤍

We are so incredibly grateful to the staff at St Cecilia Care Home in Eastfield for delivering these beautiful table decorations for our Christmas Dinner — such a thoughtful and generous gesture 🎄✨

A huge thank you to Kim and the team at Morrisons for supporting our dinner and providing a voucher to help cover some of the gifts and expenses for our guests in Eastfield.

We are deeply grateful for all the donations, volunteering, and hard work that so many people in our community have put into making this happen.

If you are feeling alone this Christmas, please come and join us. Our dinner is open to everyone and is fully inclusive — no matter who you are or your circumstances.

Christmas is about community, warmth, and coming together, and we would love to share that with you 🎄✨
