We collect spectacles from many places around Scarborough. These will be sent to be sorted, cleaned, and graded for distribution around the world saving sight and making children and adults happy with better vision..
These random acts of kindness are spreading from Scarborough to all around the world..
We also take hearing aids and the batteries in unopened packs.
Please can just the spectacles be dropped into our bins,( not the cases or cloths, or rubbish please).

Scalby fair 2026 was great fun. Thanks to everyone who came to our stalls. The weather was great. We appreciate your support.
Every penny and pound helps support local needs.
Thanks to Scalby Fair for organising such a great community event. The Marshalls, volunteers, and organizers who made it such a success.
Thanks to our Lions for setting up and running the stalls today.

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🦁🎊🎉🎊🎉☀️ The Scarborough Lions are looking forward to this so much. We will be near the Lych gate.
There is lots to see and do . There's dancing, music, reptiles , Bird's of prey, funfair,, lot's of stalls, and food, .A fantastic village fair since 1977.

Two days to go until the Scalby Fair. The retro photo of Lions Angie and Chrissie is from two years ago.
We will be running two stalls this year and are looking forward to seeing you all.
A fantastic community event running since 1977.

An interesting read about the history of the Knaresborough bed race. How a small event has become a huge community event led by a local lions club and many other organisations and businesses help out. It has decorated beds, competitors in fancy dress, a parade, and ends with a swim across the river Nidd.

We have our New year's day dip here that has fancy dress, fundraising and the bracing North sea for local needs and many other charities. It brings thousands of people into South bay.

We are looking forward to the Scalby Fair next Saturday. A small event that has also grown and become a much loved community event.
These events bring communities together for good causes.

There's a week to go until the Scalby fair. A fantastic community day that has been running since the late queen's silver jubilee in 1977.
It has been run by volunteers and is now a week of events
We love this event and look forward to seeing you all. The fair runs from 11 to 4pm.
We will be running two stalls this year. Every penny and pound we raise goes to support local causes.

At the last meeting we had an informal handover for the lions presidency .
Outgoing president Alan B thanked everyone for their support throughout the past 12 months. He handed over to incoming lion president Colin and wished him well.
There were two prospective members who also joined us for the meeting.
The Lions club year starts in July so these roles start at the end of this month.
We have a new secretary ( Lion David with help from Lion Julia). Thanks to Lion Phil for doing two roles for a long time ( secretary and treasurer).
Lion Karen has become vice president to support Colin.
The other members have kept their same roles.
We planned our rota for the the Scalby fair on the 20th June. We are looking forward to this great community event.

🌍It’s World Environment Day! The Environment is one of Lions Clubs’ eight global causes which means that 1.4 million Lions across the world focus on this area.
Clubs in Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland, volunteering to improve the environment by doing litter picks, planting gardens, recycling unwanted glasses and re-using donated books to raise money. 😀
Here in Scarborough we recycle unwanted glasses and hearing aids. We have multiple places for people to deposit unwanted spectacles ( just the frames not the cases or clothes). .
We live in such a beautiful area. Right
by the sea and nearby to moorland.forests and countryside
It's worth celebrating 🎉 ❤️ 🌍🦁

A while ago we helped the Derwent Valley Scout and Explorers group with clothing for their recent adventure to Disneyland Paris.

They sent photos of their trip and a big thank you to the Scarborough Lion's club for our donation.

It looks like the Scout's and Explorers have had an amazing time and made memories for Life.
