Amelia's Campaign Amelia's Campaign aims to promote the importance of organ donation whilst raising money for two life

Amelia's Story

My name is Amelia Scholey I am 23 years old. In August 2002 I received a heart transplant due to Restrictive Cardiomyopathy (Heart Disease). My Father died of a heart related problem when I was a baby and my brother died suddenly in October 2001 also due to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. I then found out I had the disease and in June 2002 I was put onto a waiting list for a new heart

. In August 2002 I was lucky enough to receive the organ, unfortunately the heart I received didn’t beat. I was put onto an ECMO machine,
which did the job of my heart. It was thought that after a rest the new heart would beat again, unfortunately this was not the case. I was then added to the Emergency Transplant list and yet again was lucky enough to receive another heart, which is still beating today! I am so grateful to have been given the gift of live and I would now like to help promote the importance of organ donation, and also raise money for two life saving charities, the British Heart Foundation and Life Live then Give Life.
