LADIES......Lets Lift the Curfew

Not keen on running in the dark?
Not sure what to wear to be seen?
Don’t feel safe running alone or in the dark?
But don’t want to let your running fitness slip?

Let’s Lift the Curfew launched in 2023, has now evolved into a national movement with an annual campaign the moment when the clocks go back.

In it's third year, the campaign seeks to amplify women’s stories, promote allyship and encourage wider cultural awareness of the issues that prevent many from being active outdoors during the autumn and winter — from poor lighting to fear of harassment.

In support of this years "Lets Lift the Curfew" campaign, Whitby Running Club Run Scarborough UK and are offering targeted sessions to promote awareness. These events will show solidarity and highlight the barriers many women face when exercising outside after dark.

There’s still time to fill in Let’s Talk Active

Over 2000 people have completed the Let’s Talk Active survey – there’s still time to join them. Take part before 4 November and help us build a picture of physical activity in North Yorkshire.

You can do the survey online at a time to suit you on our Let's Talk Commonplace survey tile.

We want to hear from you, whether you exercise regularly or you are not as active as you would like to be.

The survey is quick and easy to complete, and there are several ways you can take part:

You can fill it in online on the Let's Talk Active Commonplace page https://letstalkny.commonplace.is/en-GB/proposals/active/step1
If you would prefer, you can pick up a paper copy from your local library, leisure centre or main local office and return it in the envelope provided.
You can also email [email protected] or call 0300 131 2 131 (please say ‘Let’s Talk’ when prompted) to request a survey.
Or you can write to:

Accessible formats of the survey are available on request. Please share your views with us and encourage your colleagues, friends and family to do the same.

The survey closes on 4 November 2024.

Your feedback will help us understand what’s important to you and what the barriers are to being active.

We can use this information to develop our facilities and plan our programmes of activity. It helps us to know what we currently do well, what we could do better and differently and where the gaps are.

Well done to at Whitby Jets Basketball Club and Whitby Rugby Club who have completed the survey to date! It would be great to get some more from the Scarborough District.

Last year’s Sport and Physical Activity Provider Survey helped us support clubs & settings more effectively. We were able to focus on 5 key areas:

👍🏼 Larger, more diverse workforce
👍🏼 Inclusion
👍🏼 Cost of living challenges
👍🏼 Mental health, with a focus on youth mental health
👍🏼 Signposting

Can you help us by completing the 2023-2024 survey? It will only take 10-15 mins and you could win a prize for your setting!

Visit https://nysport.typeform.com/to/LI91XWry to complete the survey by 22nd January.

North Riding County Football Association are developing their new strategy and reviewing where possible resources can be delivered in the future.

To help shape this, they would like to invite you to a consultation session where you will join a small group of others from the grassroots game made up of a range of roles from local clubs to discuss and help us gain an insight into what matters to you.

The session will be an informal and relaxed event where people can discuss and express their views on local football. It would be fantastic to hear your opinions to help develop our strategic priorities.

Key themes will focus on:
Behaviours - how can we address poor behaviour within grassroots football?
Volunteers - how can we help attract and retain volunteers?
Clubs of the Future - how can we support your clubs ambitions?

The workshop will take place at Scarborough Sports Village on the 30th January, 6.30pm to 8.00pm

As places are limited, could you please respond asap by completing this form: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/680dd837a100454da7b85a63979d10fc
