Thank you to all who came to celebrate the official opening of An Faire Mor! It was a lovely day supported by lots of people. As well as our island community we welcomed those who helped fund it, those that helped build it and those that live in it! Thank you to our band of musicians that played while we did a Strip the Willow down the new street. Thank you to The Pantry and Richard Irvine for providing the food down at the hall and thanks to Maggie and Steve for serving. (I didn't get any photos of in the hall so if anyone has some they'd like to share that would be great)
And a last thank you to MOWI for organising the day.

Island croft tenancy opportunity for a family! 🐓🐄🌱

Colonsay Community Development Company is delighted to advertise a rare opportunity for a family to take on the tenancy of an 11 acre croft in a stunning location, with a comfortable 4 bed house available for rent.

With Scottish Land Fund support, Ben Sgoiltaire croft in Uragaig, Isle of Colonsay is in community ownership.
CCDC is aiming to attract a family, see the house occupied as a year-round family home and the croft actively worked, ideally with a small business.
The allocation is intended to support Colonsay’s primary school, increasing both the school roll and the number of settled residents of working age seeing a long term future for themselves in Colonsay.

Applicants must be:
- A family of working age wanting to take on a croft here and make Colonsay home; a family unit including those attending either primary school or nursery, or younger.

Applicants must have:
- A croft plan for Ben Sgoiltaire, with the relevant experience & aptitude to support this, along with the finance & resources required to get set up.

- A way to make a living in Colonsay. A willingness to take on a variety of island work is usually required. Working remotely is another possibility, or bringing a trade or particular work experience which would be desirable for maintaining essential services within the small island community.

- Resilience, initiative, adaptability & enthusiasm, with an awareness of the challenges of year-round island life.

We were delighted to have our tenants move into the four rental properties on our new development, An Faire Mor in November. We wish them all the best in their new homes! Here are a few photos from the happy day, before storm Bert set in!

Further time to apply for CCDC’s available business unit!

CCDC’s Board have decided that given the circumstances of delayed handover from TSL, there will be an additional extension for Unit 4 applications.

This gives further opportunity to those who have applied, or who have expressed an interest, to refine or build on the information submitted.

The closing date will now be Friday 8th November.
