🌽🍅 Next Delivery to the Food Hub! 🍗🥔

Good news from Our Community Allotment — the next delivery was delivered save to food Hub in SECC !

And let’s be honest — this year is looking SO much better than last year! We finally got some rain (hallelujah!), everything’s thriving, and the garden looks like it’s had a full-on glow-up. Even the plants that usually sulk are now showing off. 😄🌧️🌿

This time we delivered:
✔️ Three kinds of beetroots
✔️ Curly kale
✔️ potatoes
✔️ Herbs
✔️ Three types of carrots
✔️ tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and loads more!

It’s all fresh, full of goodness, organic and ready to share. If you need some, please come by. If you’ve got extra, pass it on. That’s what this community is all about. 💚

Thanks for growing, giving, and doing this wild, muddy, beautiful thing with us. Mell, thank you for your donation!

🌱 Not all heroes wear capes — some wear muddy boots and carry watering cans.Meet Andrew, our very own community allotment angel. 💚Always the first to lend a hand, the first to notice when something’s not right, and the first to show up with a smile and get things growing — Andrew is always there to help. Thanks to his dedication, we’re able to grow fresh produce and bag it up to support those in need. We truly couldn’t do it without you. Thank you, Andrew — you’re a real-life hero. 🌻👨‍🌾✨

A Glorious Morning at Sawbridgeworth Community Allotment 🌱☀️

What a beautiful sunny start to the day here! This morning’s harvest brought us broad beans, fresh onions, vibrant salad leaves, and a handful of fragrant herbs — all grown with care and community spirit.

We dropped them off at the food hub in the church, where we know they’ll be put to good use. The season is thriving, the sun is shining, and there’s plenty more to come — more fresh produce and more deliveries just around the corner.

Huge thanks to everyone helping us grow, pick, and share. Local food, grown with love. 💚

Tales of Sawbridgeworth Community Allotment 🥬

You may have noticed we were very quiet last year — and I wanted to explain why.

The truth is, last season was incredibly tough. I was on the verge of giving up. Despite putting in so much time, money, and energy — from prepping the beds, sowing seeds, propagating, watering, weeding and caring for the plants — we lost nearly everything.

The slug and snail invasion was absolutely devastating. We didn’t harvest a single lettuce leaf the entire season. In the end, we only managed one small delivery to the community hub at the church. It was heartbreaking and incredibly frustrating, and honestly, that’s why I didn’t post any updates. It felt like there was nothing positive to share 😞

But this year… things are looking so much better 💚

The garden is thriving again. We’ve managed to keep the slugs and snails under control, and everything is growing beautifully. So far, we’ve already delivered fresh produce three times to the church hub and once to the Hailey Centre — and we’re just getting started!!!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, even quietly in the background. We’re back, and we’re growing stronger — one seed at a time 🌿
