UPDATE: Church Road, Saughall road closure / works. A number of residents have been in touch regarding the road closure here. SP Energy Networks who have been undertaking this work have advised as follows this morning in relation to two specific points:

1. When the road closure will be lifted, and
2. The condition of the footpath which runs from Church Road through to the fields at the rear

I have also spoken to the team on the ground this afternoon, in-person on the matter.

SPEN contact: “I attended site this morning, the alleyway will be getting stoned. We are just working towards getting the road closure off today - due to the weather this has become the top priority. Site agent is aware and the alleyway will be stoned by the end of the week.”

This means that the first phase of these works are now drawing to a conclusion which is welcome. Two-way traffic signals will be installed later this afternoon which for the next couple of days will manage traffic on the route as the final work is completed - the weather has played a factor in recent days owing to the laying of tarmac. Whilst this isn't ideal with the start of the new school term, it is hoped that all hardware will be removed from the site by Friday.

Further works will be undertaken later in the year and I will post details of any implications for temporary road closures etc at the appropriate time.

Thanks to residents for their patience during these works which were necessary because of the decision of a local landowner to issue a ‘notice to remove’ the SPEN infrastructure from their land – not a decision of Cheshire West and Chester Council.
