After the summer break, we return in September with a fascinating lecture on Berthe Morisot — a trailblazing artist at the heart of the Impressionist movement. With its fresh colour, light, and lively scenes of modern life, Impressionism changed the course of art, and Morisot helped shape that transformation. A passionate and determined painter, she exhibited with the Impressionists between 1874 and 1886, creating works that still sparkle with energy and continue to captivate audiences today.

Get ready for a dazzling dive into Art Deco glamour! Our June lecture is presented by Pamela Campbell-Johnston: Erté: Designs of the Art Deco Master. Born in Russia and later based in France, Romain de Tirtoff - better known by his glamorous pseudonym Erté - became celebrated as the Father of Art Deco. In this talk, we’ll explore how his unmistakable world of sleek lines, stylised figures and bold elegance helped define an era. From the page to the stage, Erté’s imagination lit up film, theatre and opera through extraordinary costume and set designs that still feel modern today.
