Lots of interesting things to do at the museum over half term

There is loads going on at Dinosaur Isle Museum this half term! Our daily talks, activities, and fossil handling sessions continue through the week - all free for museum visitors.

Also make sure to book a place on one of our half term fossil walks - the best way to make your own fossil discoveries!

Join us on Sunday 17th May for a unique special event combining dinosaurs with live music. As part of the Fairest Isle Festival, historical instrument group Phantasia are presenting a short concert at Dinosaur Isle titled "Musical Dinosaurs" about the time when instruments such as the theorbo were rapidly becoming extinct. This will be preceded by a talk from Dinosaur Isle Conservator Dr. Simon Penn. Cake and refreshments are included.

Happy ! This is a Micraster preserved as an internal mould in flint. It is an extinct genus of echinoids from the Late Cretaceous rocks of the Isle of Wight. Micraster was an echinoid who lived in a burrow below the sediment surface. These are quite common on the Islands beaches, you just need to keep an eye out amongst the gravel 👀

This was found by one of our volunteers 🥰
