Hi folks
Some events coming up at Sandness Hall:

🐏🧈🐑🐏🧈🐑🐏🧈🐑🐏🧈🐑🐏🧈🐑🐏🧈🐑🐏🧈This Saturday 24th October we have Ellie Sandison from the Museum coming along with the Crofting History discovery box and to run activities. it's a drop-in session so you can come along anytime between 10.30am and 12.30pm, see traditional tools, old photos and have a go at butter making and other activities.

The kettle will be on, soup will be available from 12pm. Unaccompanied children welcome to drop in.

🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖Saturday 7th November close to Armistice, we have WW1 and WW2 artefacts on display and Haydn Robertson from the Museum will be there to explain how equipment like the trench periscope was used. Drop-in again 10.30am to 12.30pm.

We will also have the Early People and Viking discovery boxes for you to handle artifacts relating to the archaeology Steve will be speaking about. 10.30pm to 2.30pm with lunch.

Hi folks. Here it is. The 2026/27 Sandness Film Club film programme. A5 copies will be available shortly in Westside shops and at our first screening to attach to your fridge so you don't miss a screening this winter. As always we appreciate those who join as season members since this helps with forward planning.

The Sandness lottery helps support the day to day costs of running SCD which are not covered by grants. It is therefore a great way to help our work. Please contact us if you wish to join. The cost is £5 per month and there are 3 prizes of £25, £15 and £10 each.

Film club 🎦
Thanks also to everyone who sent in film suggestions. We will now take the list and get to work on this winter's programme. The first screening will be at the end of October with one per month til March. There will also be a showing of a children's film close to Christmas. Details to follow.

Paul's first trip to Shetland was a visit to Sandness when he stayed at North House by Melby Pier. The views from the pier had a major influence on his work and Melby Pier featured in many of his early paintings in Shetland.

When Paul heard that the Sandness community were acquiring Melby Pier to safeguard its future he was keen to lend his support. So please support him and come along to hear how Melby Pier can change people's lives.
