Highlights of Rhythms of rhe World on 7th June 2026

Gates open at 6PM. Programme finishes at 9PM.
6:30 Pm to 7:00 PM: Intro to SF, two performances by autistic children, discussion on environment and impact on mental health.
7:00 to 9:00 PM
This includes a fusion of flamenco (Irene Hernández Díaz is coming from Madrid) and bharatnatyam (Sohini Roychowdhury Dasgupta in from India who travels the world, is an author, speaker who does workshops with neurodiverse people) followed by sitar by maestro Jonathan Mayer who has performed on BBC.

This will end with a lec-dem (lecture demonstration) by the artistes on how their art forms help mental health and neurodiversity.

Performers:

Sohini Roychowdhury is an internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, author, speaker, producer, and professor of Natyashastra.

Irene Hernández Díaz is a Spanish dancer specializing in flamenco, Spanish dance, and contemporary performance. Her key performances include Carmen at the Opéra Royal de Liège (Belgium), La Rosa del Azafrán with Teatro de la Zarzuela, and productions such as Al Son with Sara Cano Dance Company and Lorca es Flamenco with Pedro Embrujo Company. Bharatanatyam at the SohiniMoksha Indian Arts Centre.

Jonathan Mayer studied sitar from him late guru Pandit Subroto Roy Chowdhury and composition from his father the Indian composer John Mayer. As a sitarist he has played extensively across the globe including many concerts in India and has played at the prestigious Dover Lane Music Conference.
