Guides have a new ‘randomiser’ tool to help them decide what they will be doing each week.

Sometimes we get stuck in a rut of the same activities and this proved to be a great idea!

They are currently working on the Duke go Cornwalls Community Safety award, which looks at being prepared for emergency and learning skills to stay calm in a disaster.

Brownies started back with an activity towards our Regions badge Cupboard Technology. We have made agar jelly bacteria cultures which we will monitor through the half term and see just how clean our hands are!

We also played lots of games and tried out some line dancing (Brown Owl was crowned champion for that!) and finished making breathing bracelets for meditating. Brownies also took home a wonderful book about finding joy to help them along with their book reviewer badges.

This half term Rainbows are earning a Mythical Creatures badge. Tonight we made peg doll mermaids for our first activity...

This half term Rainbows are earning a Mythical Creatures badge. Tonight we made peg doll mermaids for our first activity.

We talked about characters in The Little Mermaid and whether they were consider ‘good’ or ‘bad’. We then discussed how the story would have changed if the characters role reversed.

As part of our Skills Builders we also read different statements and decided if they were facts, or opinions.

Our final activity, we had to choose a favourite from two similar things, and see if our friends chose the same things or if we could have different likes and dislikes to the people we care about.

Brownies celebrated David Attenborough’s birthday on Friday by immersing themselves in nature.

They went bug hunting, identified trees, made sound maps and also created a hedgehog home and bug hotel, starting off a nature corner for our units to visit and hopefully encourage wildlife into the area.

They also earned the Wildlife Explorer badge from the old programme.

Rainbows were looking at famous explorers and they did some astronaut training last night - including dodging asteroids ...

Rainbows were looking at famous explorers and they did some astronaut training last night - including dodging asteroids to rescue space food!

They thoroughly enjoyed throwing the asteroid’s at their young leader when roles were reversed!!

Rangers are doing work in the Community this half term. One of their projects is to tidy the space they share with other Youth organisations in the village.
