Good news for everyone who uses Manor Road 'lane' - Following SPC's request to B&NES Council, additional "No Parking / No Loading at Any Time" restrictions will be introduced on Manor Road by the bollards at both ends, helping to improve access and visibility.

The photo was taken shortly after the bollards were installed in December 2024, after SPC successfully worked with B&NES Council to close the lane to motor traffic.

We hope these changes will make the lane safer, more accessible and more enjoyable for everyone who uses it.

A draft Local Plan for Bath and North East Somerset will be considered by councillors on 10 September.

The plan sets out where new homes, jobs and key infrastructure could be built over the next 20 years, helping to ensure growth happens in the right places with the schools, healthcare, transport and community facilities needed to support it.

It has been informed by feedback from residents, businesses, landowners, developers and community organisations through earlier consultation stages.

B&NES Council has published its Draft Local Plan today, ahead of a Cabinet meeting next week. The draft identifies two proposed development allocations in Saltford:
• West Saltford (both sides of the A4) – around 960 dwellings
• South Saltford – around 330 dwellings.

Together, these proposals in the Draft Local Plan total around 1,290 new dwellings in Saltford. 'Concept plans' (maps) for both sites can be found in the images below.

B&NES Council has stated that Cabinet is being asked to approve the Draft Local Plan for a six-week public consultation, expected to begin during the week commencing 14 September. If approved, this will be the final opportunity for residents and stakeholders to comment before the plan is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for independent examination. More information can be viewed on the B&NES Council website at: https://newsroom.bathnes.gov.uk/news/plans-new-homes-jobs-and-infrastructure-bnes-go-cabinet

SPC understands that the consultation will be about the 'soundness' of the Draft Local Plan. At this stage, Saltford Parish Council cannot comment on the Draft Local Plan until it has formally considered the consultation information at a Full Council meeting.

SPC is expected to have this as an item at its 6 October meeting. Residents are welcome to attend and, time permitting, address the Parish Council. Please keep an eye on SPC's agendas for details.

B&NES Council, as the local Planning Authority, will publish information on how residents can directly take part in the consultation. Information will also be shared at the Keynsham Area Forum on 24 September at 6:30pm at The Space (above Keynsham Library).

🌸 A huge thank you to Mary, who has volunteered her time to keep the phone box flowers watered through what is likely to have been one of Saltford's hottest and driest summers. Mary's kept them blooming, despite the heatwaves!

Thanks also to Flourish Foodhall & Kitchen, who generously provide both the summer and winter displays to our community for free. Their support keeps SPC's phone box looking colourful throughout the year.

We’re very grateful to all involved, past and present, for making these displays possible. 🌺🌼🌷
