πŸš’βš οΈ Keeping access clear saves lives: Recent tragic river drownings nationally are a reminder that emergency services must be able to reach river side areas quickly when every second counts.

Before Double Yellow Lines were introduced, fire crews practised carrying equipment from Beech Road due to restricted access for fire engines on Old Village roads - delays that could be critical in an emergency.

Since their introduction, Double Yellow Lines along river side roads have made a clear and proven difference in keeping access routes open and improving emergency response.

Ahead of the summer, SPC thanks B&NES Council for refreshing sections of lining at its request - to maintain safe, reliable emergency access for residents and visitors.

πŸ“ Please report faded lines or highway issues to B&NES Council via B&NES FixMyStreet:
https://fix.bathnes.gov.uk/

This remains a priority area for B&NES Council's Planning Enforcement team visits.

πŸ“· Photos show 'gridlock' issues before double yellow lines were introduced; and some of the refreshed markings this week.

πŸ“’ What's happening with development 'options' in Saltford? B&NES Council has announced that consideration of the Draft Local Plan has been delayed until September 2026 (rather than 2 July 2026 as previously indicated). Subject to B&NES Cabinet approval, a public consultation is expected to follow in the autumn.

The Draft Local Plan will show what implications there may be for Saltford, including our Green Belt. Cabinet papers are likely to be published around five working days before the meeting, when more detail should become available.

Saltford Parish Council will maintain awareness of the process and keep residents informed. B&NES Council has said it will share information about consultation engagement guidance nearer the time.

SPC will discuss and agree its response to the Draft Local Plan consultation at a future meeting, and residents are welcome to address the Council before it resolves its view.

For the latest updates, maps and overview visit our 'Protecting Saltford's Green Belt' page:

Image taken from B&NES Council's second 'options consultation' in 2025. The options map shows all land parcels in Hicks Gate, Keynsham and Saltford. The 2025 map shows three β€˜options’ for Saltford:
● West Saltford – South of A4 (650-850 dwellings)
● West Saltford – North of A4 (300-350 dwellings)
● South Saltford (350-450 dwellings)
