Runswick Bay Rescue Boat

Runswick Bay Rescue Boat Runswick Bay Rescue Boat is a volunteer-run organisation providing inshore rescue from the North Yor The crew and committee of RBRB give their time voluntarily.

Runswick Bay is a small fishing village on the North Yorkshire coast, approximately 6 miles north of Whitby. Until the late 1970s, Runswick Bay was the location of an RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institute) lifeboat station and the old lifeboathouse is a very distinctive feature of the village. The Runswick Bay Rescue Boat (RBRB) was formed in 1982 after the main RNLI station moved further up the

coast to Staithes. Spirit II
Spirit II was launched in 2010

RBRB is an inshore facility which works in close cooperation with the RNLI and HM Coastguard with a primary remit to ‘nip in the bud’ incidents that are visible from the village and to access difficult locations along the shoreline where larger boats would struggle. The RBRB Association is an independent registered charity (number 1014544) and is funded from donations, the fundraising efforts of the local community and occasional grants.

Join us for a celebration of the journey of the hatchery - an event to connect with the project and other hatchery supporters, local community & friends.

Join us for a special evening dedicated to our supporters and friends of the Whitby Lobster Hatchery. This event is a chance to hear about the progress we’ve made so far, meet the team behind the project, and gain a first look at our future plans and ambitions.

Beyond the hatchery itself, we’ll be sharing our wider vision for protecting and restoring the balance of the North Sea’s ecology. From supporting healthy lobster populations to strengthening marine biodiversity, our charity is working towards a more sustainable future for our coastal waters and the communities that depend on them.

It’s also a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow supporters and members of the local community, sharing ideas and celebrating the work we’re doing together to safeguard our seas for generations to come.

There will be some light freshments throughout the event kindly supplied by Mary's Sandwich Shop.

Please sign up for tickets for you and your friends/colleagues to join the event. There is a suggested donation of £5 per ticket but please kindly donate what you can.

There is no onsite parking so please use parking facilities in town or on the East Cliff a short walk from the hatchery on Pier Road

Call Out – 7th October

This afternoon our crew were paged after reports of two people and a dog cut off by the tide near Port Mulgrave.

The casualties were quickly located and brought safely aboard the lifeboat, along with their dog. They were taken to Staithes. The boat then returned to station.

We’ve heard a rumour that some of our crew will be taking part. We’ll see you there!
